No thanks.

Matt Cassel = Olandis Gary/Mike Anderson/Reuben Droughns

Why did you have to put all ex-Broncos as examples?  Cry

Looks good one one team, gets a big payday elsewhere only to realize that he really sucks and looked good cause the rest of the team MADE him look good.

Matt Cassel is NOT - repeat - NOT a franchise QB.

He does have some talent in that backfield in KC, although it's nowhere near what he had in New England.  This season will prove if your statement is true or not.

I'm taking a wait and see approach.

I feel the reason they signed Cassel  long term is that it gives Cassel the Confidence that he is their guy.  And i do hope they put the puzzle around him to succeed.

Yeah, who is the idiot GM in KC?

That a lot of money for a guy who was never nominated for a the heisman nor won a college bowl game.  Doesn't this moron realized the megabucks deal ONLY go rookie QBs!  It makes sense for someone who has never played a single NFL game to get this type of contract.  But it is insane to give it to someone who last year was in the top 10 QBs in terms of passes completed, passing yards, touchdowns, passer rating, yards per game, and lowest Pass Intercept. %.

It is shocking this moron of a GM has a job.  Doesn't he know the ONLY reason Cassel was successful was the Patriots system, does he even have the slightest clue about the Patriots system?  Has he ever seen Cassel play or seen him in a practice?

Clearly this GM has no freaking clue how to build a championship calibur team.  Otherwise he would know that there is no possible way to build a team around a QB drafted in the second day of the draft.

There's no Randy Moss in KC.  I don't give a shit about Dwayne Bowe.

There's no Wes Welker in KC.

There's no offensive line or running game in KC.  At one point last season, Tyler Thigpen was the team's leading rusher.

Matt Cassel is NOT Tom Brady.  He's a decent middle-of-the-road QB, at best, who's getting paid like a perennial all-pro.

I guess only time will tell.

He is make less money than Stafford or Sanchez.  Are they pernnial all-pro?

He is getting paid like a first round rookie.  He is making more than Brady, because Brady's contract was signed years ago and player salaries have greately exceeded inflation.

Plus what choice did KC have.  They had to pay him $14.65 million this year for the franchise tag.  Then he would be a free agent.  For less than $13.5 million more they now have his rights for 5 more years.

Why do you keep bringing up Stafford and Sanchez?  they're highly drafted rookies, #1 picks always make that kind of money.  I don't agree with that either, but it is reality.

I keep bring it Stafford and Sanchez because Cassel has done more to prove he can play QB at an NFL level then either of them.

There was basically three QBs available (before Culter threw his hissy fit and Favre decided to unretire for the 9th time).  Sanchez, Stafford and Cassel.

Two did well in college but never played a down in the NFL.  They were drafted #1 and #5.  A third had played for one year on a very talented team and won 11 games.  He came with a $14.65 million one year contract and went #34 in the draft.  Had he not come with a $14.65 million dollar price tag but still had another year on his rookie contract the Patriots would probably have gotten multiple picks including a high first.

If KC had not traded for Cassel they could have had one of the two college kids.  They prefered Cassel.

I am not saying Cassel will make KC into a playoff contender this year.  But then again Stafford is going to make the Lions into one either.   And if you put Brady or Peyton on the Chiefs they aren't going to the superbowl. But Cassel clearly has the skill set to succeed and is less of a risk than the other two.

My prediction for the Chiefs.....The win more games with Cassel then they won last year and Cassel wins less game with the Chiefs than he did with the Pats last year.

Way to go out on a limb there -

"The chiefs got better but not 11-5 better"

Got it.

My prediction for Cassel - More INT's than TD's and MAYBE 3200 yards through the air.
