America's team

The best part of these 2 teams playing each other in week 1 is that I am assured that one of their seasons is over right off the rip.  They both suck.

Can anyone find that play where Harris was in the pocket and the commentators were like "I thought there was a penalty because he was just standing there."  I'm looking at this kids highlights and he doesn't look anything like he did last night.

I think I remember the play.  Is it where he's almost sacked and he gets away and still looks downfield, but never really scrambles?

Now, looking at it objectively, both teams don't suck. Both teams have holes, but they also have a lot of good athletes, good QBs, and a lot of team speed. Are either of these teams going to challenge for the national title this year, or could either squad scare this year's Gator team? The answer is no and no. But both teams look improved, both should make some noise this year, and both should go to a decent bowl game. Miami, in particular, is young, and Jacory Harris looks like the real thing. We'll see how the Canes play in the next few weeks vs. GT, VT, and Oklahoma. They won't win them all, but the Canes are no pushovers.

Miami really enforced their will on Georgia Tech last night... Not sure they are quite ready to compete for a national title yet, but if they beat Va Tech and Oklahoma to get to 4-0, I may start getting a little fired up.

^^^ I think this team will look a lot like the 2000 team that lost one game to Washington and missed a chance at the national championship.  I think they'll lose one or two  games due to youth, but regardless, I'm very excited to see them back as at the very least power players in the ACC.

Gotta love Jacory Harris and that offense, and the defensive line looks solid and deep, like UM lines have historically been.

Alot of people are still saying "We're back, we're back!"

Slow your roll...

They are playing well, and I'm happy to see it, but go 5-0 or 6-0 before you start saying "we're back"

If the Canes can win the next 2 can we say they are a shoe in for a national title? This should be enough reason why they should give Shannon an extension,  i beleive in time, the U will be a dominant program.  What has bothered me for a couple of years is that the recruits who commit to miami leave.  WHY? Competition to tough for em.

I really want the canes to whip up on the Carolina teams. N.C. Clemson, WF.   Duke ehhh whatever everyone beats duke .

Would be really nice if they start off 4-0.

We're back doesn't mean "we're back to being national champs", it means "we're back to being relevant".  In that sense, with a solid O-line, great depth and talent at WR, TE, and RB, as well as all over the defense, and an honest to goodness Quarterback, Miami is once again relevant.  And, dare I say it, scary.

The 4 toughest games on their schedule are the first 4, all of which are ranked in the top-25...so if they go 4-0 against that opening gauntlet, I think they'd have a shot at going 12-0. UNC will be tough, but I don't see them as being tougher than Ga Tech or Va Tech, and not nearly as tough as Oklahoma.

I'm optimistic...but in college football, anything can happen, so temper it a little.

I'm just happy as a baby in a barrel full of nipples that football season is here.

If they go 4-0, then they should be in the top 5 at the very least.  Keep in mind though, Florida State has a pretty bad secondary, and GA Tech has an even worse one.  I want to see how Jacory does against a good defense, although he has looked pretty damn good so far.  I'll be impressed if they beat VA Tech and Oklahoma, but until then, they still have some proving to do.
