My thought I left out because I was in a hurry...Too many fans are chicken little when we lose,we're the worst team in the league, then next week we win,and suddenly,we're the best team in the league. We can beat any team in the league going into the next week,it's been that way for years....

Losing the first game doesn't mean the season's over....

I'm fine with them playing him but only after we're officially out of the playoff picture.

I'm also fine with playing him during garbage time while we're still IN the playoff picture.  Unfortunately, with the exception of the Arizona and first New England game last season, there was no garbage time in any game.

We had garbage time in the last game that we used to pad Penny's stats.

True but what message do you send to your team by putting Henne in, you need to build the confidence of Pennington, until we're out of the race, we have to assume we're pushing for playoffs this year, however fanciful that may seem.

We wil not challenge with Henne.

This is exactly it.  Seeing what he can do sends a message to the team that, at 0-1, we're giving up.  Everyone knows Pennington gives the Dolphins the best chance to win, I don't think there's any debate about that.  The offensive game plan needs to improve, including blocking schemes and route-running.

Henne is not going to do anything this season.

the o line is the biggest problem right now that is really concerning. jake long's technique of letting the de run him over will result in a sack no matter who is playing quarterback. the o line's consistency in letting the defensive front play in the offensive backfield is a big reason why the passing and running games suck.

the play calling is helping them out any either... hopefully they commit to some kind of running game to help give the offense some balance.

until this offensive line plays better than a high school varsity team, it doesn't matter who the quarterback running this team is.

Putting him in late in a lost game signfies giving up the season? I would say that is a pretty big stretch.  Everyone knows that this team is Henne's in waiting.

Directly from one of the Dolphins writers in Dolphin Digest ... It's when and not if the Dolphins put Henne in this year.  I dare say puting him in during a time when the game is gone wouldn't affect them nearly as much as the Dolphins own camp writers writing this.

Wow what a bold prediction.  The backup QB on a NFL team is going to get soem playing time during the year.  What will this guy predict next?

Wow what a bold prediction.

Part of that predition was bold.......

Specifically "when", "if", & "in this year"

On the other hand.... "Directly from one of the Dolphins writers in Dolphin Digest ... It's",  "and not", "the Dolphins put Henne" & "I dare say puting him in during a time when the game is gone wouldn't affect them nearly as much as the Dolphins own camp writers writing this." was not bold at all.

If they're serious about getting him ready, and they're serious about him being our next "Quarterback of the Future We're Trying To Replace Marino With" then they better hurry up and give him mop up time and if we're out of the playoff picture early, I'd start him.

You're not going to know what kind of quarterback he is until he plays a whole game when it counts, and you're really not going to know what kind of player he is until he has to come up in the clutch.

It appears that I may have rememeberd the quote out of context. I must apologize.

"The talk in the in offseason was when, and not if, the heir apparent to the QB would take over.  It had been assumed that Henne would at the latest be annointed after Pennington's contract runs out after this season."

Pennington will not be in a Dolphin uniform next year unless one of the following two things happen.

1.  We win the Superbowl by some miracle
2.  He agrees to take a pay cut and back Henne up.

I don't think anyone is arguing that Pennington is Miami's future.

Also, my whole point is, why not give him (Henne) another year to get a good feel for the game on the sidelines?  Football is intricate times a million in the NFL.  Let him keep getting a firmer grasp on scenarios, playbooks, even management and leadership skills.  Then, give him full control at the wheel come next year.  Easy transition for all and gives this guy ample time to mentally and physically prepare.  Granted, this is "best case scenario" I'm talking about - injuries and other circumstances aside.

I don't see any positive coming out of playing starting him any game this year besides answering to fans' curiosity as to what he can really do.
