maybe a poll should be started for this.

Baseball - 4 each league,  8 total

Football - 6 teams each league, 12 total. first 2 seeds get byes.

Hockey/Basketball (same basically), 8 teams per league, 16 total. 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6, 4 v 5.

I like the football playoff system, 6 per league seems like a good balance.  8 seems like too much, and 4 is too small.

Though it's not on the list, I really like the way college basketball is set up.

For the pros, however, I think that they're all pretty good.  I think that basketball and hockey let in too many teams, which makes the regular season pretty meaningless.  Football seems to have the sweet spot with the amount of teams, but I'm not sure how I feel about re-seeing after upsets.

Does the NFL really re-seed after upsets?  If the #1 and #2 both lose in the second round, after first round byes, doesn't then the best available seed get home-field advantage?  I guess your gripe is more with the uncertainty about who you would play depending upon who wins what game?

I like Football's playoff system the best.  Basketball and Hockey, it seems like too much to have 32 team leagues take 16 teams in the playoffs.  Baseball I think would do well to either go back to 4 total teams making the playoffs like it was before the realignment or expand it to 12 total teams and shorten the regular season.

Well, in college basketball, for example, if the 16 seeds upsets the 1 seed, the 16 seed takes over the #1 path, which is the supposedly the easiest path from then on.

In football, if the 8 seed beats the 1 seed, in the next round, they re-seed and the 2 seed (assuming they won) takes the easiest path.

Yeah, kinda, although I also think it's cool to be able to knock off the top dog and take their place....and it's neat to be able to make brackets.

I guess baseball is the best for me. The NFL's ridiculous OT coin toss rule kind of eliminates it for me. Like someone else said, 50% of the league makes the playoffs in the NHL and NBA.

MLB seems like a nice balance where no real flukes happen considering you have to win 11 games.
