Dave, I have to disagree there.  If I had a hat, I'd take it off to the coach of the team that was winning.  This is a gesture that speaks of class and sportsmanship.  That coach gave a kid who is mentally challenged something to feel good about, and that touchdown will not be forgotten anytime soon.

But to me, it's almost as if you're celebrating that the kid is too stupid to realize that you're letting him win.  Like I said, I have mixed feelings.  On one hand, it's charitable by both teams, and that's commendable but on the other hand, does the kid really need charity, when there are real accomplishments out there? 

I'm just trying to look at it from the other side.

Ouch...I know where you're coming from (kind of) with the Devil's Advocate thing - I do it a lot myself, as I can almost always put myself on both sides of any situation and argue for either.

But in this one - I see only unconfined joy. If Matt knows anything about what just happened to/with him - he's happy that people were generous enough to go out of their way to make his day special, and he saw that they had an absolute blast doing it. If he doesn't know much about it, he thinks he just won his team the Superbowl - nothing wrong with that either.

I feel like I'd guess at least 90% of viewers/readers feel about this - a little lump in the throat, a great big thump in my heart - News just in, people are NICE! Life is not just about winning, and sport doesn't mean money, cheating, bad-mouthing, stomping on the loser yadda yadda - life is about people, and deep down? Most of us are good people - we want to do good things and make life good for other people too, especially the 'less fortunate'.

I think I'd have preferred to see him get a carry and get tackled, whilst I appreciate the gesture and the class of the coaches to agree to it, I feel sorry for the kid because at some point he's going to find out it was fixed and when he does, that one moment he remembers as "the time I scored a TD" is going to get taken away from him.
