I found it cheaper on the internet

« on: October 18, 2009, 03:33:51 pm »

Up until I was watching this game against the Saints, I thought the Giants were a SuperBowl contender.

Then the announcers brought up an interesting stat.  Out of their first five wins three teams combined for 1 win up until this point.  Their other two wins?  Against the medoicre Redskins and the slipping Cowboys.  Now that they're matched up against the tough, really tough Saints they are getting more than their asses handed to them.

Would you call that a team being over-rated or just a bad luck, bad week scenario?

Giants haven't had that hard of a schedule leading up to this Saints game.

The Giants also cannot cover. Tough to play against the Saints when you play 5 yards off everyone, everywhere on the field. If you look back at, well, basically any significant reception (including several touchdowns and the one that was called down at the 1 on replay), the Giants defenders consistently play the man, not the ball. Even when they have a chance to go for the ball, they try to time the hit to knock the ball lose.

On offense, Giants receivers were just way too passive. They blew tons of catches early by simply not going after the ball, but waiting until it fell into their hands (sprinting away from the ball). The result, duh, was Saints' defenders getting their hands on the ball. ATTACK THE BALL. That's one of the first things you learn as a receiver.

The Giants are a good team, but not Super Bowl contenders.

I'd love to hear Jtex's opinion on this.

You guys are smoking crack. I hate the Giants, but anyone who makes the playoffs is a Super Bowl contender, and the Giants will surely be there.

The hottest team wins the Super Bowl, not always the best team.

The Giants are "still" one of the top-tier teams in the NFL...they just ran into another one of those top tier teams on a day where the other team had their number.

The Giants are still a top tier team.  It's Minnesota I'm not sure is that great.   I have to believe that if the game was played outdoors in NY that the Giants could have equally flipped that score.  NY has secondary problems, NO has the best offense in football and the Giants got exploited.

No, the Giants are NOT a fraud. They are 5-1, and after we beat Arizona @ home and then whoop the Eagles like we do every year, the Giants will be 7-1 and that's a great record.

The Saints are fucking GOOD and that offense is explosive. We're not frauds because we got crushed in one game by the #1 overall team in the NFC (no not the Vikings). Had the Saints lost, would they be frauds?

Plus we had a lot of injuries on defense. No Kenny Phillips for the season and Aaron Ross was also not playing.

We'll come back at home on Sunday Night Football and take care of business vs. the Cardinals, and the Giants will be right back on track. We're definitely going to win the division and I'd like a Saints / Giants NFC Title game, please.

What position do you play? I wasn't aware that you were on the team with all the "we'll" and "We're" references.....LOL!

Bullcrap. Using "we" is common and accepted for fans of a particular team.

Extending your argument, it's just as "LOL" when the coach of a team says "we need to tackle harder" or whatever.

Giants are sitting pretty with a 2-game lead and 2-0 record against the NFC East.  The Skins sucks and the Cowboys and Eagles are having trouble putting it together week-after-week.  NYG played a bunch of turds and beat teams they should have beat--upper-tier teams win when they should.  The Saints are just a better team.  The only hope the Giants would have of winning that game is in New Jersey with some horrendous weather.  The Giants are certainly no fraud, but they won't beat the Saints in NO come playoff time if it comes to it.

Yes the Saints have a very explosive offense, but we have seen many explosive offenses fail to win the SB over the years.

The Dolphins just gave the league the recipe for beating the Saints. The only reason why Miami lost this game was because we have no dependable number one receiver...our quarterback is still green around the edges and the safeties are a liability in pass coverage against elite TE's.
