Have any of you ever experienced someone who lead a double life? I have a friend who just got engaged last month. I have seen he and his girlfriend (now former) at least once a week for a period of six months or so. It turns out that she was leading a double life the entire time. My friend discovered it because of an issue of getting her to bring a pay stub forth as part of their getting a place to live together. After some investigation he discovered she was still married and didn't even work where she told him she did. He has no idea what she was doing during the period of time she was at "work" each day. I imagine B has probably seen similar things in his line of work but this is one of those things you never expect to happen around you. Anyone else ever have anything like this happen?

I have a hard enough time leading the one life I have, let alone a second...

Its always interesting to hear these stories, though, and see how elaborate people can get in their web of lies and deceit.

We came across a similar thing about 6 years back.

Background- I have a small circle of friends I hang out with. We all grew up together, and were firefighters together. We've all moved out of our old hometown, but still hang out, and our circle has grown to include spouses, as well as some co-workers of some of these friends, and some college friends as well.

So anyway-one of our buddies (we'll call him Fred) married another buddies sister (we'll call her Wilma). So Wilma started to hang out with our group. After a few years, her old high school friend (we'll call her Betty) started to hang out with our circle, along with her husband (we'll call him Barney).  Aside from Wilma, no one knew Betty or Barney before they started hanging out with us. And Wilma really only  knew Barney thru her friend Betty (Wilma was a bridesmaid for her, but didn't know him before hand).
Sorry this is long, but just wanted to give you the background.

So Barney always seemed like a weird guy, but aside from drinking a bit too much, he was OK. He was in pharmaceutical sales, and switched jobs a few times, always getting a "better offer from a competitor" as he used to say. He drove a nice car, and they had a nice house. We were always bitching with each other about work, and used to always tell me he'd hook me up with some recruiters (since I was just starting out in sales at the time). Of course he never did, which always made me feel he was kind of a bullshitter. He used to always take care of the bills, and never let Betty see any of the finances.

So one day, Betty bumps into someone who recognized her husbands name, and this person asked something along of the lines of "does his son live with you guys?". Betty told the lady, she must be thinking of another Barney Rubble, although his name was quite distinct. Betty gets a little weirded out by the comment this lady made, and goes to their bank, asking if she can see their most recent statement. It turns out her check was the only one going into the account, nothing from him. She does some more digging and finds out they had several bank accounts, none of which he was depositing any money into. He was however "kiting" checks. This is where you write a check from one account to another, to another, to another, etc, keeping them going before the banks finally realize they all bounce. She confronts him on this, and discovers he was actually a father and had been paying child support. He also hadn't worked in about 7 months, after getting fired. And he had been let go from previous jobs for not doing any work (he wasn't offered anything from any competitors, he was fired). Turns out all their bills were past due, and their house was ready to go to foreclosure. He had basically been using her money to pay his child support and nothing else.

Needless to say, she divorced his ass and had the marriage annulled. Unfortunately, he screwed up her credit big time, and even an annulment doesn't erase that.

I'd say anyone that's cheating on their spouse is living a double life....When I did private investigation,We just had show some type of proof,a picture, video etc,etc...The person that hired us would only tell us....We'll they said their Bowling,Working late...I'd love to talk to some of our former clients to find how, what, and why they did it....

I don't think double lives are ALWAYS a bad thing...I mean Dave Gray talks about his real life different from his online/TDMMC life...I'm really shy,and quiet in public, but alot more open here, and Fins radio.....Both could be considered double lives...

I've never off the top of my head known both sides of a double life ..other than Mine I mentioned....

If I wanted to live a double life, I'd have to work my asses off to get the number down to 2...

I figured the Flintstones aliases would make it easier to keep track of who was married to who. Yeah, it was really crazy. Fred was really upset because he had grown pretty close with Barney and they used to hang out a lot. He felt almost as betrayed as Betty. Obviously it affected Betty in a lot of ways. It took her awhile to get her life somewhat back together.

The Flinstones story is why you should never let anyone control all of the money. You earn it, take part in what's done with it.

HA!

No double lives but in a vaguely similar vein I've had a lot of people come up to me thinking I'm someone else or tell me I look like somebody they worked with/schooled with/knew.  Granted, I'm the average looking white guy but I think there might be a Tyler Durden thing going down.  Anyone else?
