In the Gators win over Miss. State, a UF player intercepts the ball, then hotdogs with the ball out as he runs past the goal line.  It gets knocked out by an opposing player.  Luckily, the call was a TD and it was upheld, but it was debateable, and certainly too close for comfort -- in my opinion, it was a fumble at about the 1 yard line.

Why do players continue to do this?  It seems like every week, some idiot drops the ball before they cross the goal line or they hold their hands out before they score, only to have the ball knocked out.

If I were a coach, I wouldn't stand for this.  What are these players thinking?  This kind of stuff (along with stupid personal fouls) makes me mad at the people who actually have the talent to play football.  It doesn't seem like you'd have to coach people in this regard.

What you decscribed sounds eerily like the Leon Lett play back in Super Bowl XXVII.  A coach like Jimmy Johnson would not have stood for those types of mistakes.  He was known to cut players who did that stuff.  I'm guessing that what saved Lett's job was the fact that the Cowboys were leading 52-17 at the time.

Dustin Doe is a selfish player. He was replaced in the starting by Ryan Stamper last year and has gone into ME mode. The only reason he was in ther was because of Spikes injury. Some of the Gators players are getting way to cocky for my liking and Meyer needs to give the team a serious tongue lashing.

I recall DeSean Jackson doing the spike on the one yard line after catching a long bomb.

I agree with you, Dave, and I think that call last night should NOT have been upheld.  Seems to me that just for the fact that they are taunting and hot-dogging on the way into the end zone should sway the refs' decision against the offending player.  However, rules are rules, and I get it.

I also agree that the Gators (and some of their fans) are getting WAY too cocky.  This is two games where they almost got it handed to them, even with the savior in the game.  Its gonna bite their ass one of these days...

Players continue to do this because they are King Shit since the 4th grade; someone notices they have talent and from there they can do no wrong.  Coaches allow it to some extent because it all comes down to Ws and they'd rather keep their job even if it means abiding poor behavior.  Who gives a rat's ass if you're the world's biggest douche as long as you can run for 250 a game, make 20 buckets, or knock em over the fence?

I think the point here is that Mr. Doe isn't "King Shit." He shouldn't even be on the field. He's low enough on the totem pole to make an example of him. If I were Meyer, I'd bench Doe for the Georgia game.

Also, let's give a little credit to the Miss St. players who ran Doe down and then recovered the fumble. It should have been a touch back.
