I think that if Miami were to go undefeated again, it would only highlight the achievement of the 1972 team.  They would get parades out on the  field with every game down the stretch and they'd have a whole new series of TV ads about it and who knows what else.  It'd be great publicity for the old guys.

Also, if another team were at 16-0, the Dolphins could say "Well, you gotta win the Super Bowl, and then do it again to be in our block of Perfectville!"

You have never actually heard them speak, have you?

They aren't fans of the Dolphins team, they are fans of themselves.

You grew up your whole life as Dolphin fan.  Most of the team did not.  Mercury Morris didn't grow up a Dolphins fan, like Marino he was a Steelers fan as a kid.  He couldn't give two shits about the 2009 Dolphins.  He cares about Mercury.  And Mercury's legacy.

I disagree.  I think they are big time fans and they have simply been irritated by how bad and undisciplined the team has been since their era.  Not saying they aren't fans of themselves too.

I have heard them speak and I think the biggest issue is respectability.  They just feel that the way they did things is more respectable than the way things have been done since.  They won't show full respect until we have a team that earns it.  The question is this...  Is it enough to go undefeated to earn the respect?  Or is it the way you do it that earns it?
