The only thing I can figure is maybe he cannot see right out of that eye.  It does not look bad just looking at him.

They showed a full frontal of his face. It's not like the eye was swollen closed or anything.

nah, these guys have a direct line to the trainer and tony sporano. they gave him a quick call and confirmed that he isn't the slightest bit injured, is just a pussy, and they wanted to put in a qb that hadn't completed a pass the whole year in the game.
