ESPN is reporting that Welker tore both his ACL and MCL in a meaningless game today. I wonder if Belicheat is reconsidering his decision to play his starters?

This is just more proof that not playing in a meaningless game could be the correct call.

I don't know. That kind of injury could have happened at practice, or during warm ups. He wasn't even touched.

This man speaks the truth. This could have happened in his back yard, and it has nothing to do with a "meaningless game".

Is it just me or do NFL players get paid to play 16 games? All of you guys talking about this is why you sit guys, etc... are a joke. These guys make millions of dollars to play a friggen' game, while half of us are busting ass to make shit money. Get a clue.  It's a glorified form of welfare to have a guy making that much money not even playing.

They get paid to win Super Bowls and to do whatever is necessary to do that. They certainly don't get paid to play exhibition games or any amount of guaranteed field time.

I wouldn't sit them but I understand the rationale. I think it has more to do with the mentality behind it more than the physicality of it. I feel it's hard to turn "it" on one week, "off" the next, and to turn "it' back on when it counts.

I have to disagree with this stance. These guys are paid for practice, games, exhibition, everything. If players were only paid for SB expectations tyhen most of the league doesn;t get a paycheck.

As I heard a player say once, they get paid to practice. The games are the fun part.

It actually wasn't meaningless at all, the Pats winning could have swung which wildcard team they have to host.

And the guy was hurt on the first ball thrown to him - it isn't like he was crushed with :06 left in the 4th quarter while up by 27 in a game that didn't alter the outcome of anything else.

He, like Brady, Moss and the rest of the starters, were exactly where they should have been = playing.

It sucks big monkey balls, but I have no problem with him being in the game. I do have a problem with BB pulling Brady with just under 2 minutes and a chance to tie the game. WTF

Last thing you want to do in a meaningless game is have a tie.  But I would have left him in, and if we scored a TD gone for 2.  That way the game ends (either as win or a loss, but it ends)

For the last time, Miami screwed Miami out of a playoff spot. No-one else.
