The original quote was "the _______ GODS would not allow such a thing"

You said, "everyone said that about Obama".

I said NO! since he got CONVINCINGLY voted in and the whole time since his win in the primaries was pretty much predicted to win.  In fact, I threw in Palin because that's exactly what happened.  Another wing-nut religious lunatic with an old man between her and the highest office.  Therefore, the whole world thought what you said except you had the person wrong.

I also disagree with you on the Jets not being mediocre.  They are.  I didn't watch the Cincy game but I take it missed field goals and poor play were a factor for the Bengals.  Same with the Chargers.  I don't buy for one second it was the Jets' defense that suffocated the potent Chargers offense.  3 missed field goals (yes one was 50+ yards like STL pointed out) a shit load of penalties, dropped passes and terrible play calling on the Chargers part is the reason the Jets are advancing.  The Baltimore Ravens are a better team than the Jets.  I mean, the Chargers moved the ball at will in the beginning only to shoot themselves in the foot with a bad snap or penalty to force a 3rd and long.  New York will not see those lucky bounces against a disciplined Indy team.  I'm predicting a blowout

dude , you got me all wrong.......i never said he didnt win convincingly. i never said he wasnt favored ,or liked . all  i said was that the chatter around the water cooler was that he's never gonna win. middle america will never let it happen. as much as we all wanted him to, most felt that the bigots  were not ready for a black president, and somehow it would be sabotaged. thats all. i dont care about your beliefs , or your politics. nor do i agree , or disagree. i'm just stating what ive heard. no more , no less. Wink

now as far as the jets go......i totally disagree.  sounds like denial to me.. and even though i was strongly prediting a jet meltdown, i know when to admit  i'm wrong, and give credit where its due. the fact is, theres no such thing as being mediocre at this stage of the game. in the playoffs, luck only takes you so far, then talent and ability bcome necessary factors . at this point , everyone is expected to bring their A-game. No excuses. the reason why there were so many miscues on the chargers  part, is because the jets were bringin it hard. pressure on the qb creates chaos, confusion, and mistakes. tell me, how is that lucky? the fact is,  the chargers were rattled. the jets took them right  out of their game. in their own house!  and that , my friend is not mediocre. they may not win next week, but they damn well convinced me ( a lifetime jet hater) that they can hang with big boys. and if the ravens were the better team , why are they sitting home watching the playoffs on tv? sorry , but youre rationale  just dosent fly......

I must point out that the Dolphins twice made the playoffs in years in which the Jets swept during their famous 8 game winning streak:  1999 and 2000.

What did the Dolphins do with those chances?  I think we all know.

What have the Jets done with this chance?  Seized it.

The Jets made the playoffs, they earned, and they've earned the right to play in the AFC championship game.

Well how often does a Pro Bowl kicker miss thrice in a game, including two from 40 or less?

It's called PRESSURE!!!... Kaeding has pulled this against the jets before. This is a terrible playoffs for kickers. Gary Anderson had a marvelous career, but he will always be remembered for missing that kick against the falcons in 99 after he went perfect throughout the regular season. I honestly can't see Kaeding returning. If he played for the eagles his house wouldve been burned down by now and his family would be in the witness protection program.

Anyone who thinks the Chargers didn't pull a massive choke job is fooling themselves.

maybe so. but why?? ....... because the jets got in their heads,  took them out of their game and their rhythm. chargers choked because they were rattled . plain & simple. just like some other teams i know

LMFAO! This is so true.

Nice analogy.
