Now I wish this record hound can just retire unless he's planned to break George Blanda's record for years in the league. Maybe he will become a punter for the next 7 years. You knew it was coming. Farve always throws the ill-advised pass at the wrong time. That pass was easy pickins for Porter.

He should hang em up, but knowing him, he'll be back for some kind of record.

He'll retire shortly after the Super Bowl and then un-retire right after training camp ends.

Unless any of you can answer the following question "yes," then this thread (and all dogging of Favre today) is patently goofy. The question is...

"Would Tarvaris Jackson have taken Minnesota any further than Brett Favre did this season?"

Exactly...the correct answer is:

"Tarvaris Jackson wouldn't have even gotten Minnesota TO the playoffs."

Favre absolutely played his guts out yesterday. I gained so much more respect for him after watching him being drilled repeatedly and standing in there and just eating it.

He deserves zero blame today.

^^^ Maybe if Brett had signed with Denver, they might have made the playoffs...

Word.

I'm cheering for the Saints, but if Minnesota had won, I would've cheered for them.

I've always been a Favre fan because he is so tough. That and we are the same age!! Other than his "retirement" crap I have always liked him

Stroke, while I agree the Vikings definitely went further than they would have otherwise I have to disagree that they would not have made the playoffs without Favre. They were their division favorite even with Jackson. There are some stars on that team and while they would have lost something I bet they still would be in the playoffs.

That said, Geaux Saints. I am a Manning fan, but I would like to see something positive happen for the Saints.

They did...

I have nothing against Favre other than this "retire-un-retire" charade we have to hear about every year.  Just say you don't wanna go to training camp.  Be up-front.  I'm sick of hearing about Favre, I'm glad we don't have to watch 2 weeks worth of BJ's from ESPN on Favre's jock.

The sports coverage people make us sick of Favre.

Personally, I think he's a bit overrated.  For the amount of picks he throws, they call him a "gunslinger" but they would call someone else "terribly inaccurate."

Did anyone else find the poetuic justice or the Karma of the final play Favre made? His last throw as a Packer when we thought he would retire was an interception to end a game. Perhaps this interception to end the game was his final throw?

His last throw as a Jet was also an interception.

BTW- Wasn't the "12 men in the huddle" penalty right before his INT? Only reason I bring it up is that on 3rd and 10, he wouldn't have had to have thrown as far as he did on 3rd and 15. Shame on the entire offense for that stupid blunder.

Some people claim that Favre's last int didn't matter, that it was essentially just a punt, since it was third and long and they were out of field goal range. I just think that, considering the total situation, it was 4-down territory. I'm not sure most coaches would have gone for it on 4th, but I think NOT doing it would've been a huge mistake.

Considering that it was 4-down territory, I also question the play-calling on that final Vikings drive. Especially since a field goal would've been almost as good as a touchdown.
