I know we have at least a few gearhead NASCAR fans on this board, and at least a few more that follow it at least on a casual level (like me). ESPN has a game they do every year called the Stock Car Challenge. They changed the rules a little this season, taking the "salary" equation out of the mix, and instead lumping drivers into two categories...top drivers in category A, good-but-not-top drivers in category B. For each race, you select 3 drivers from category A and 2 drivers from category B. You score the points that those drivers score for that race. You can keep the same drivers the next race, or turn them in and select different drivers. It's a pretty fun game, and it actually got me watching more racing last year just because of the game.

hmm....i hated on nascar for a long time.  then i started working at ESPN, and for some reason I kinda dig it now....i spend a lot of time having to watch highlights of the races.  often i have to watch all the pressers after the games and really have gotten to know all the characters, and those guys crack me up.

I had some friends who do this.  It's super easy and you don't need to know squat about Nascar to play.

This should go without saying, but let me go ahead and say it... If anyone has friends who aren't currently members of TDMMC, but you think they'd enjoy playing a particular game, please invite them in and give them the password and other details so they can join. TDMMC Fantasy Games is an equal opportunity organization that believes everyone works too hard...and should really take some time off to play every once in a while.

i dunno if i'd participate.  is it very involved?  i don't play fantasy baseball just cuz there is too much to monitor.  i just hate being that guy who gives up after a few weeks.

Tony... You have to take roughly 20 seconds before each race, so once a week. It's possibly the least time-intensive among all of ESPN's games.

No argument about the addiction, but it's an addiction fueled by obligation. I literally "need" to do all these little Cat B and Cat C games on ESPN, because all games go toward your overall fantasy ranking on ESPN, and the fantasy gaming group (ESPN TOP 50) I'm in pretty much wants us all to keep a full slate of games.

If not for the ESPN ranking, I probably wouldn't do any games other than the traditional fantasy football, baseball and basketball.

Do your selections carry over from week to week?  If so, then you technically only have to set your choices once, and then whenever you want, after that.

Your "roster" does carry over from week to week, so if you want to roll with the same fivesome each race, more power to ya. With no salary considerations, you can swap or not swap without penalty any time.

No draft... Just make sure you set your roster of drivers at least 15 minutes before the first "game race," which is the Daytona 500 on Feb 14th (1 PM ET).

Good to have ya playing!
