funny how people say anyone can win the super bowl in 2-3 years, yet give an example of a 5 year plan  Grin
Which 5-year plan was that?

The closest one I can imagine is NO (who went from garbage to champs in 4), and it's not like NO slowly-but-steadily improved in '07 and '08.

you gave the example of new orleans who didn't accomplish winning the super bowl in a 2-3 year span. it took them a 5 year rebuilding plan to win the super bowl.

if the goal is merely to get in the playoffs, win a couple of games and be relevant again, sure any team can put a few pieces together in a short time frame, get on a hot streak, etc...

but if the goal is to win the super bowl, that is a totally freaking different animal. its heading into year 3 since the dolphins went 1-15, and they don't have anywhere near the pieces in place to win the super bowl.

right now the dolphins are going into year 3 from 1-15. anyone really think they have the same amount of talent to go through the tournament and win the super bowl now?

I believe every team is within 3 years of making a superbowl run.  That does NOT however, mean that just cause you sucked 3 years ago you are now a playoff team.  You can be 3 years away from being a contender...then three years after that be three years away...and then three years after that still be three years away.

Bringing it back to the Dolphins..You could argue, that the Jets had some young talent talent to build around, and have been playing one player away mentality for a couple of years.(Brett Farve, Lito Sheppard,Bart Scott,Damien Woody,Alan Faneca, Trading for Kris Jenkins,Trading for Braylon Edwards)..The Dolphins young talent, was drafted by Parcells....It's just too soon (imo) to start adding the expensive free agents....I want the window to win multiple superbowls over a 5-10 year period...I feel that's what the Dolphins are trying to do...Restock the cubbards...

This was Sean Payton's 4th season as coach of the Saints.  So I guess you're counting Katrina as part of New Orleans' rebuilding plan?

Furthermore, to say that it was even a 4-year "plan" implies that they were only stockpiling cheap, young talent in 2007 and 2008 in preparation for a big run in 2009.  That isn't particularly consistent with their signings of Renaldo Wynn in 2007, or Dan Morgan, Aaron Glenn and Lance Schulters in 2008.

Wasn't Taylor only on a one year deal? He may very well be gone.

I thought they said Taylor was returning?  Am I mistaken?
