Why didn't anyone explain to me why we are so eager to get rid of a guy who had nine sacks last year and 17 or so the previous year?

Sure... He's a pain in the ass. Won't get off the field when the coaches order him to -- sending off his replacements instead. Being paid too much compared to his worth.

Does it bother anyone that the powers that be screwed this up? I mean ... shouldn't they have known when to release someone?

Someone was asleep at the wheel...Odds are there is a process to check the salary impact of cuts, but everyone just let down their guard with the upcoming uncapped year and said, "thank god we don't have to worry about that for a year" and messed up. 

As much as I personally would like to believe that this shows gross incompetence from top to bottom of a franchise destine to fail and be a non-factor in the AFCE, I really don't think it is a big deal, and just a pretty minor mistake, that does not really reflect on the organizations overall ablity to manage the cap.
