Pulled from the Draft thread, where the last bit of chatter has all been about the Phins' needs:

^^^ I agree with those positions being need positions, but I consider ILB to be at the other end of the row.

I'd probably lay it out as ILB > WR > NT > OLB > FS

I would say WR (veteran), NT (draft), Free Safety (Veteran and/or Draft), Running Back (fast guy-likely draft), Tight End (unless Nalbone is ready) and possibly a veteran corner on a short term contract.

Otherwise any position upgrade would be fine besides QB, Corner, FB and Strong safety.

given ferguson is now suspended for the first 8 games in 2010, i think nt becomes the biggest priority right now. followed probably by finding a capable fs.

feels like the fins need an extra first round pick now. any ronnie takers?

I think that the moment Miami signed Dansby, NT became the biggest priority, especially given the talent at the top of this year's NT class. Not sure how this makes you feel like we need a second first rounder now though... If the Phins grab a NT at #12...and I think they will (Dan Williams) now that ILB is addressed, then they've addressed the top two needs before getting out of round one already.

Hell, with apologies if I'm being redundant, if we could somehow lure Brandon Marshall down here for our second rounder, we'll have added massive talent at 3 of the 4 primary need positions this offseason, and could spend the middle-late rounds grabbing talented safeties and OL beef.

I'd like to say one other thing that might chuck a wrench at the monkey... When we drafted Sean Smith last year, I made it clear that I saw as a good corner who had the potential, due to his specific tools, to become a very good NFL free safety. If Miami starts grabbing corners instead of safeties in the rd 3-4 area, I might not be unhappy either.

So it's looking like FS might not be a need.  Ryan Clark from the Steelers is almost a lock to sign with the phins.  I'm also seeing Daren Sharper, but Clark seems more realistic.  It's all on NFL.com

NT-Ferguson is on his last leg and suspended to boot.  I thought he was a free agent did he resign?

S- Get one with experience to go along with Clemmons.  We must be strong up the middle if we're going to run a 3-4.

OLB (tie)- I'd really like it if we had another proven run-stopping linebacker to play the strong-side.  Wake is an above average pass rusher, I'm still not sold on how he'll play the run although I'm sure he'll improve.  Charlie Anderson could be capable of filling this role.

ILB (tie)- We have Dansby, but I'd like to see us get another hungry bastard like a Zach Thomas to play next to him and really plug the middle.

WR- Maybe get one because I'm not sold on Ginn yet but not ready to kick him out of town.

RB- Only if Ronnie skips town in a trade/FA

I'm reading ESPN twitter that He's resigned with the Steelers.

Looks like were still looking for a FS

Ya, I saw that.  Oh well.  Sharper would be cool to have for a season, and I'm sure he could teach Clemons a thing or two.

I've been drinking the Kool-Aid again;
Lets trade Penny( or insert Brown) and maybe a late round pick to pick up and early first round pick. It has been rumored that Detroit might want out of their pick. Grabb Eric Berry he can play just about any DB position and should be a play maker/game changer! Give our first round pick to the Broncos for Marshall give Chad someone to throw to.(play maker) We should be able to get a good young NT in round 2 / a Geno Atkins, Lamarr Houston, Cam Thomas or maybe if he falls Terrence Cody(if you kick him in the ass to keep him going!) As far as OLB we should be able to let the Tuna work his magic and get some help in the late rounds!
This would give us a young talented defense.
The addition of Marshall  would give Henne some help.Line him and Ginn up on the conners, Bess in the slot, just let Ginn run deep ever time! Would keep defenses honest and open up our run game!

I think you drank more than Kool-Aid. I don't see any incentive for Detroit to trade for either of those players, especially for a first round pick.

I just threw Detroit out there. Penny could start on a few of the teams over us.He is a proven QB with the ability to mentor a young QB.It was rumored that Detroit did not want to pick 2nd.

No one is going to trade a high first round pick for any deal that has Pennington or Brown as a key piece of our side of the trade.

Zero chance...
