Yea, he played great.  He threw a combined 38 times in his two postseason wins. His second win he had 100 yards passing, and still managed to throw an interception.

Fair enough, I've added the stats from those games.  I at least see where you were coming from now.

BTW I am not saying he is a great QB.  But he doesn't need to be.

The main problem I see with the Jets is that they are a collection of frontrunners.  God forbid they fall behind in the standings and have to play catchup; the long knives will come out and you will have malcontents running their mouths.

But this is what happens when you build a team using fantasy-football principles and fail to consider temperament.

This is a reasonable concern, and one I agree with. That said, I think they stand a good chance of NOT getting behind early.

But this is what happens when you build a team using fantasy-football principles and fail to consider temperament.

Well, you were one for two anyway... The Jets are a team built on defense, with a strong O-line, a QB that doesn't put up big stats, and a deep corps of WRs that get the targets spread around. That sounds as far from fantasy football as it gets.

Their acquisition of Edwards, Holmes, Cromartie, Tomlinson, and yes, even Taylor are straight fantasy-football moves.  They are signings that you would expect from Dan Snyder.  Every single one of those players either has significant baggage or is on the downside of a great career.

Even the players with baggage are questionable.  Edwards has had one good year total, Holmes is a second- or third-tier WR who had a good day on a big stage, and Cromartie isn't even the best Cromartie in the league.  If you can get an '03 Terrell Owens, an '06 Randy Moss, or an '09 Brandon Marshall (natch) then that's one thing; they were elite, first-tier players at the time.

Third-tier malcontents will blow up your team from the inside if you go through anything approaching a losing streak.  And being third-tier players, they aren't worth that risk.

You and I have radically different views on what constitutes "fantasy football" moves when applied to an NFL team. Getting a semi-washed up formerly great RB (Tomlinson) with outstanding receiving skills to be the change of pace back for their young power  between the tackles RB (Greene) isn't fantasy football...it's just smart team-building.

If you can get an '03 Terrell Owens, an '06 Randy Moss, or an '09 Brandon Marshall (natch) then that's one thing; they were elite, first-tier players at the time.

Now you're talkin' Fantasy Football!

Bottom line...we're all guessing at the future, and only December can answer July's questions. I just happen to see the nauseating scenario of the Jets making it to the AFC championship game this season, and that doesn't add up to an overrated team at all, imo.

you guys are still sleeping on the jets, just like yous did last year.  their success hinges on sanchez - if he makes the next step and has what it takes, they will probably be in the superbowl next year.

The Jets were probably the luckiest team I have ever seen last season.

They made the playoffs because two teams flat out rolled over and played dead.  Then, they advanced in the playoffs because two kickers suddenly couldn't kick.

They were swept by the Dolphins last year, even though in one game, it seemed like the refs were doing everything they could to give the game to them.

The Dolphins have improved more than they have.  And I still maintain that the fish were robbed blind last season.

I say it's a two team race, between the fish and the Patriots.

Don't think that they are 4th but they are a good team. Dirty Sanchez is only going to get better. Rex Ryan can eat a d*ck.

Remember when the dolphins finished 6-0 to end a season 9-7 and then everybody picked them to make the super bowl the next year, and they sucked. This is pretty much the exact same thing with the Jets.  Sanchez is a bad qb.  You can't win with a terrible qb like him.  If they make the playoffs, I will be surprised.
