Remember to add:
- number of teams in the league
- your draft spot
- your basic scoring systems (performance or TD only)

Here's mine:

Performance league (6 pts for rush/rec TD, 4 pts pass TDs, -2 for fumbles and INTs, 1 pt for 10 yds rush/rec, 1 pt for 25 yds passing)
12 teams (QB, RB, 2 WR, Flex, TE, D/ST, K)
I drafted 9th.

Strategy:
Since I drafted 9th, I thought I'd be screwed if I tried to take RBs like everyone before me, so I tried to start trends.  I ended up taking 2 receivers in a row, then a TE, so I had those locked down.  I spent the next 4 picks gathering RBs and finally grabbed a QB and D late.  I then filled out with backups and a K.

QB - Cutler, Palmer
RB - Beanie Wells, Jonathan Stewart, Marion Barber, Ahmad Bradshaw
WR - Andre Johnson, Fitzgerald, Jeremy Maclin, Laurent Robinson
TE - Gates, Winslow
D - Bears, Titans, Cards
K - Nick Folk

I welcome your comments.

This thread works best for owners with only one team... Wink

I like the TDMMC squad I drafted last night, and feel it has the potential to be a contending team:

QB:    Aaron Rodgers
RB:    Michael Turner
RB:    Jamaal Charles
R/W:  C.J. Spiller
WR:   Greg Jennings
WR:   Mike Wallace
TE:     Vernon Davis
K:       Mason Crosby
D/ST:  49ers

B-QB: Matt Stafford
B-RB:  Jahvid Best, Ahmad Bradshaw, Toby Gerhart
B-WR: Lee Evans, Santonio Holmes, Malcolm Floyd, Anthony Gonzalez

I welcome your comments.

Why TWO backup defenses?  I understand bye weeks, although I typically just pick up one for that week.  But the third defense?   Huh

I would rather take a flier on some rookie or underachieving WR/RB in the hopes he has a break out year than have two extra defenses.  I would drop two of your defenses and take look at the pile of left overs and pick two guys that have low expectations but are really just huge unknowns.  Either that or grab someone like Big Ben who is on suspension for a few games to start the season, but might come in handy when the suspension is over.

Why TWO backup defenses?  I understand bye weeks, although I typically just pick up one for that week.  But the third defense?   Huh

Good question.

I regularly draft 3 defenses.  My strategy is this:

1) There is always an "out of nowhere" defense each year.  And usually, you know who they are in the first couple of weeks.  Having 3 defenses gives you a higher chance of striking gold.
2) I draft my backup defenses in the last 3 or 4 rounds, after I'm already happy with my skill position players.  I figure that most of the backup RBs and WRs I'm choosing from at that point aren't worth the roster spot.

But another big reason is this:

3) I like having a few "throwaway" roster spots in the first few weeks of the season, so that I'm not afraid to pull the trigger on players that have a good week early on.  In my first few years of fantasy football, I didn't pick up those kind of guys because I had guys that were getting at least some playing time already on the roster.

4) I will probably drop one of these units by week 3, but I'll keep 2 all season.  I'm a big fan of matchup defense.  I think that points scored is one of the easiest things to predict in NFL games (compared to other stuff, like yardage, at least).   There was one year when the Browns and Bengals were totally awful, scoring almost no points, so I drafted some teams in their division and picked up an at-large game here and there to play against those teams as much as possible.

Interesting comment, given that Tony actually only has two "playable" RBs on his entire roster. Wink

I actually think his roster is pretty decent as well though, with the exception of having no RB depth at all.

well we know who had the #1 overall pick

i like your team .. i do have some advice.. drop eddie royal .. drop him now .. just so you're never actually tempted to start him .. just waive him and pick up a backup javon walker on the off chance he signs with Minnesota .. he'll do way better than eddie royal would.
