I find it odd that the Packers at #1 has been jumped on, yet no one has mentioned that the Colts got placed either #1 or #2 by all but one voter, who didn't rank them at all!

I think that's probably a misprint by Mainer...I actually had dropped them all the way to #7 this week.

I was surprised by the Saints ranking. Barely get out of SF with a win and lose to Atlanta. Two bad games out of three.

I didn't vote for the Colts.  And I stand by that.  I had the Falcons at #3.  Don't sleep on Atlanta... they may be for real...

I say 3 bad games out of 3, considering they eeked out a win against Minnesota AT HOME, and Minnesota seems to be total garbage.  I think the Saints are pretenders this season.  Thus, I'm also the one guy that didn't vote for them either...

What's your ranking criteria? If not "performance right now", then what? Expected for the full season?

It's a combination of record, style points, and prediction for future play.

Not having the Colts in the top 10 is pretty nutty, but we'll see.  Did you know that Peyton Manning is off to the best start of his career, after 3 games?

^^ great but one man does not a team make.  Their defense is horrible and their running game is anemic at best.  I'm not sold.

I always enjoy looking at other peoples perspecives on the rankings especially when they differ greatly from mine. It's interesting to see things in a different light and ways I never thought much about.

Ask yourself this:  Which team in the NFL would you take (in a bet) on a neutral field against all others?  Is that your #1 ranking?

For me, it's not.

For me, it's not.

For me it is. That's pretty much how I define a Power Ranking Wink

^^ That's totally cool, and I get where you're coming from.

I think of it like I do with college rankings.  Even if I think a team is the best in the nation, if they have a bad week and lose early in the season, they can't be #1.

So this means you have Kansas City, Chicago and Pittsburgh as your top 3 teams?

No, it's not the only factor, just as it isn't in college either.  An undefeated Boise isn't #1 every year.

True, but that's because there are usually other undefeated teams above them and because of your shedule.  In the NFL, there aren't any "easy" teams in my humble opinion.  There are "tough" teams and "not quite so tough", but no "easy" games.  Even Buffalo can beat you if you give them half a chance.
