They were talking about the Moss deal on NFL Radio, and brought up an interesting fact pertaining to stats. Due to the way the bye week fell early for Minnesota, but didn't come yet for New England, if Moss plays every remaining game (barring injuries, etc), he will have played 17 regular season games this year.

His numbers have been so-so for the first 4 games, so its not a big deal. But they were saying that he will essentially play 12% more regular season games than any other WR, and it really could've skewed his numbers for the year.

It also means that Minnesota is still the only team he has never played against! (The NE- Minnesota game in a few weeks would've been his first time facing off against them had he remained a Patriot.)

The math is wrong.  He will play in 6% more games not 12%.

And when you figure he did absolutely nothing in one game.....  Lets just say he played in 16 games and had a bye week the same week that the Vikings did.  He recorded as many stats in that week as the rest of the Vikings team.

Sorry, I didn't do the math, I just wrote what they said on NFL Radio. And I stated that because he hasn't had superb numbers, its really not an issue. Just interesting.

Randy Moss potentially will be the 6th player to play in 17 regular season games in a single season.

Trivia question who was the first?  Hint:  He left NE to become a Dolphin.

Hmmm...without looking it up I'd like to venture a guess of Irving Fryar.

Nope.  Fryar didn't even move mid season.  92 he played for NE, 93 for MIA.

As there isn't much movement on the trivia the answer is Chris Singleton in '93

The others have been.....

Jets Dexter Carter to SF 1995
Raiders Jerry Rice to Seattle 2004
Chargers Micah Ross to Carolina 2004
Rams Will Witherspoon to Philadelphia 2009

None of them STARTED all 17, Witherspoon came close starting 16 of them.  Randy could be the first player to start 17 games in a regular season.

I actually researched this for 20-30 minutes and couldn't find the answer.
