I'm not too concerned about this.  I actually had a feeling.  Boston is a good team.  The HEAT couldn't hit a jump shot to save their lives, they got no calls (expected on the road) and the superstars passed sloppily.  ...all that said, they still were in the game in the last minute.

There is work to be done, and missing Mike Miller is apparent, but it's a long season.  I hope this week be a wake-up call.

The heat lost this game, and I have a few observations.

The heat are legit and will win a ton of games.

The celtics were pretty much the worst possible opening day matchup. They return a stable long term core of players with an established system playing at home in front of a playoff type crowd. And the heat still came close to tying this game up with a minute left to play.

The heat had no business whatsoever making the run they did in the 3rd and then in the 4th. The celtics showed their age bigtime. Once miami has a few weeks / months together playing to refine rotations, build chemistry and become familiar as a team. watch out nba. you can't count on wade going 4-16 his first game back from an extended absence every game.

It was just ugly play, especially early.  Wade and Lebron combined for 14 turnovers.  None of the supporting cast could hit an open shot.

I think that the HEAT showed some weaknesses, specifically moving the ball inside.  If you can't hit your shots, you will be punished, and we were.

The heat did play really ugly .. the players didn't hit shots .. wade 4-16, bosh 3-11 and boston is the toughest team to play against in the eastern conference .. and yet miami almost won the game .. what happens when the heat don't play this ugly?

Yet Celtics' fans nationwide (their bandwagon has been strong lately) are partying in the street cause they won the opening day game by 8 points.  When the Heat played like kha-kha.

I for one am glad the Heat lost.  I really want to see the Heat lose the rest of their games, but acknowledge that 0-82 is highly unlikely.  I seem to have a problem with players colluding to make a free agent sweepstakes.  I was never a fan of the Heat to begin with, but their current incarnation just seals it.  It'll be nice, for a change, to have the entirety of the NBA fans rooting with me for their demise.

I went from the Heat being my second team to just downright disliking them ... second only to the Lakers. They have instantly become the Yankees of the NBA in my opinion but with that said ...  this game, like a lot of the regular season, means little. They will be just fine.

They have instantly become the Yankees of the NBA in my opinion...

They'd be a lot more like the Yankees if they were 2x, 3x the salaries of the other teams, but since the NBA has a hard cap, and Miami's payroll is equal to every other team's payroll, the comparison just seems ridiculous.

It'll be nice, for a change, to have the entirety of the NBA fans rooting with me for their demise.

CF has company in the "ridiculous statement" lounge...  The "entirety" of the NBA fans aren't with you in rooting for the Heat's demise. It's jjust a small, very vocal and very whiny slice of the overall NBA fan base, most of whom are only boo-hooing because it wasn't their team that landed the superstar trio.

I disagree Stroke. I think most people are rooting against the Heat and this is what I was referring to in the Yankees comparison. It seems to me people are either Heat fans or they want them to lose. It doesn’t seem there are many people who are indifferent to them these days.

Thankfully, your disagreement has zero effect on reality...  I'm a Suns fan who doesn't want any such thing.  I spoke with a Golden State Warriors fan this morning...who also doesn't want any such thing. I've spoken with dozens of fans of other clubs since LeBron came to town...and with a couple of exceptions (Celtics fans, Magic fans), none of them "hate" Miami and pray for their failure either.

As I said...it's a small slice of "where's my team's trio of superstar" whiners that is making 99ish% of the anti-Heat noise. You apparently have a seat in that section, but trying to shoehorn the rest of the world in there with ya seems kind of silly.

Your opinion is right and mine is wrong. Sorry to disagree. I forgot you had the market on opinion.

You can believe whatever you want and try to write whimsical retorts on how no one else knows sports but the 2010-11 Miami wasn't voted into SI's top 25 most hated teams of all time because everyone is a fan of them.  Roll Eyes Of course SI's opinion is crap as well.

Reality is, the Heat signed three superstars this offseason and is expected to contend, so if for whatever reason they don't, everyone is going to jump all over them.

I, for one, am definitely not liking this whole alliance thing.  It used to be that you would want to play against the best, not with them.

I wasn't nailing my opinion on top of yours...in fact, I didn't even post my opinion there. I simply felt it necessary to point out that your all-inclusive "people are either Heat fans or they want them to lose" comment was ridiculous, because...well, because of its all-inclusiveness. I'm not a Heat fan (not opinion, fact) and I don't want them to lose...which disqualifies your comment immediately as being first-order hyperbole. The fact that I added additional first hand knowledge (again, not opinion) of other non-Heat fans who don't want them to lose either should serve as support for the hyperbole label I've attached to your comment.

I didn't say that there aren't a lot of people who dislike Miami...because there are. I know there are, because they are both loud and whiny, and ignoring them is difficult. I'm just saying that any assertion made by anyone that "everyone who isn't a Heat fan hates them" is blanket hype and not truth.
