You seem to view this as some sort of a contest, where you "win" if Allen has a bad game (but if he has a good game, like against GB, then it doesn't count).

You've been claiming that he has had a "HORRIBLE SEASON" since before the PIT game, when his play was, overall, quite good.  At the time that you were screaming that he sucked, he was clearly playing better than everyone but (maybe) Vontae.

If Smith can step up and make plays like he did today, then great!  He should start.  But I find your abrupt about face on Smith to be rather amusing, given that you were recently saying this:

Quote
One really bad pick? Pat White isnt' even on the team anymore. And Sean Smith is horrible.
Quote
Jason Allen is a victim of he is forced to play because Sean Smith stinks and Will Allen got hurt.
Quote
Sean Smith doesn't play and has been beaten out by a guy who is terrible in Jason Allen. He is burried on the depth chart behind Jason Allen and Benny Sapp. What more proof do you need? The guy can't play.
Did Smith also have a HORRIBLE game today?  Or are you still fixated on Allen for now?

Not that you would let a little thing like intellectual integrity get in the way of boasting about your mighty victory, or anything.

He was BENCHED after the Pitt game. Given one series this week, got abused 3 times.. then benched. And yet you still think he played good vs Pitt?!?

Come on man, you can't even believe your own BS at this point?!

And what about face on Smith? Did I say Smith played great today? He was ok. Palmer threw a ball right to him and he didn't drop it. Good. Nothing great. Palmer handed him an easy INT. Sean Smith still stinks. But he is now better than a terrible Jason Allen! So play Smith over Allen. Hardly an endorsement by me!

try and get off the topic as much as you can by pointing out every little thing and except the topic at hand.

You were wrong on Jason Allen as were many others here.  And you fail to admit it and are still saying he is having a good season. WATCH THE GAMES!

MikeO, why are you even pretending that you care about the results of the games?  You made up your mind before the season started that Allen sucked.

He made 2 INTs (with a 3rd offset by penalty) in a close game, playing an integral part in the win, and your excuse is "It's Brett Favre, anyone can do that" (note: no other player this year has intercepted Favre twice in one game)

He had a good game and pulled down a key INT against GB, as well as having solid games against BUF and NE.  Your description of all three of these games: "HORRIBLE"

The difference between you and I is that I've already acknowledged that Allen had a bad game against NYJ, and I'm happy to agree that he's played poorly the last two weeks.  But even when he's had a good game, your only response is either "he still sucked" or "that didn't count".

Had Allen had a good game against PIT, your response would have been "Ben hasn't even been playing for most of the year, what do you expect?"
Had Allen had a good game against CIN, your response would have been "Palmer sucks this year, he couldn't even beat the Browns."

So why are you acting like you care about what actually happens in the game?  When he has a bad game, he's HORRIBLE, but when he has a good game, he's still HORRIBLE.  When he was playing better than he had since he's been here (and better than almost everyone else on D), you were still trashing him.

lol. jason allen played 1 series today, and gave up a 9 yard completion to TO, and a 7 yard touchdown pass that clemons probably should have helped on.  He also defended a deep pass to TO.  Under what metric did he play terribly today?  Vontae on that drive gave up a 6 yard completion on 3rd and 3, and a 14 yard completion on 3rd and 10.

Good post Dan.

MikeO, what I don't think anyone here is saying Allen is elite or even very good this year.  We are all saying he has been anywhere from "average" to "above average".  He hasn't been anywhere near as bad as you've said he's been.  Again, I repeat, NO ONE IS SAYING HE IS GREAT.  He has been okay for us.  To say he's been HORRIBLE is just ignorant.

Where are these good games he has had? I mean you throw it out there like he has played well this year. HE HASN'T....take away Farve giving him 2 gifts and he has sucked in every other game! That is what you can't seem to grasp. He has sucked so bad now he has lost ALL playing time. Yet I'm the crazy one.......you guys must not actually watch the games.  If he is so "solid" in all of these games, why has he lost ,most if not all of his playing time? JUST ANSWER THAT QUESTION!!

BUT HE HASN'T!!!!!!!! Average players or above average players don't lose ALL OF THEIR PLAYING TIME! They don't get fully benched!!!

He is TERRIBLE! He has been so bad and gotten so much worse every week now to the point he is now the 4th CB on Miami and will play little to none on defense. How come you guys can't see this or understand it?Huh It

You continue to claim that he "sucked" against GB, BUF, and NE.  This is why everyone is dismissing you.

It's impossible to take your claims as valid when you evaluate good games as HORRIBLE.  If you think that he "sucked" in the GB game (no big plays given up, 1 INT grabbed) then of course you are going to call every other performance a bad game.

FYI...Mike Wallace is fast, but nowhere NEAR the fastest guy in the league. Not even top 10 fastest. Not even close. Fast.....yes! But lets not over-hype Mike Wallce and make him the next Lynn Swan!
In practice Ben Roethlisberger once overthrew Wallace on a deep ball and Mike Tomlin STOPPED practice.  Yeah, he IS one of the fastest guys in the league if not THE fastest.

Yeah, it's either C.J. or Wallace for the "NFL's ultimate burner" tag...

If he was so good in ALL of those games, then a bad game or two wouldn't get you taken off the field and benched.

Please,  the fact that Nolan and Sparano removed him from the field totally yesterday, not just benched but benched and DIDN'T even come back as a back-up ..........says it all.  Keep fooling yourself into thinking he played good in games this year!!! Keep fooling yourself

WTF does that prove? Nobody cares what happens in practice. IF it really did happen at all. Unless its on video tape of some sort who knows if they are telling the truth or this is a story that is getting exagarated. And even if it did happen, who cares. It's a stupid practice!! It proves nothing. It sure as hell isnt' an excuse for Jason Allen getting burned last week.
