Something else to think about with Moss is that most likely he would take the place of Roberto Wallace on the active game roster.  Wallace has been progressing nicely.  He made a mistake on going out of bounds early in the last game, but he made up for it with a nice down field block that helped Hartline get a 30 yard run to setup the TD.  Would Randy Moss have made that same block?  It's not just about what Moss adds to the team, but also what gets taken away.

Then there's always the money side of things to take into consideration.  Miami has taken a bath in a couple of high dollar free agent signings lately.  They can't really afford to spend a couple million on Randy and have him be a bust.

Finally there's Marshall to consider.  He s supposed to be our explosive receiver and up to now has been doing and saying all the right things despite not getting as many balls thrown his way as usual.  How will he react to bringing in another veteran WR?  He might take that as a slap in the face.

My gut says that Sparano likes the team the way it is right now and won't risk bringing in a guy like Randy Moss which could upset the apple cart.

Yes, yes I did. What I didn't see was Moss single-covered even once.

Doesn't matter.  It's a ploy.  Randy will view the LB coming in to chuck him, along with CB to cover and will shut it down for that play.  NE specifically decoyed Moss into giving up on routes, which he does a lot.

Additionally, Moss was not double teamed on the play in the end zone where pass interference was called.  He could have caught that ball, however gave up on it because of the flag.  A TD there greatly chances the tone of that game.  Instead NE went on to stuff the Vikings on a great goal line stand.

I want no part of this clown in Miami.  None.

Yeah, I would take him.  Has everyone forgotten how he single-handedly demolished Miami for 3 years?  Or how all the attention paid to him opened up so much single coverage for Wes Welker?  If Marshall commands a double, and Moss commands a double, who's going to cover Bess again?  The guy could average 8 catches a game, like Welker has the past few years!  Notice how Welker's numbers have dipped since Moss left (4 and 3 catches the last two weeks, respectively, when last year he averaged 7.68)?

I'd take him IF Brandon Marshall is OK with it.  I'm guessing he'd like to have someone else command the double team once in a while so he can (occasionally) play one on one.

I'd take him in a heartbeat if, as JVides points out, that Brandon Marshall is ok with it. Even if Moss gives up, teams are still going to double cover him. We would just need him on the field.

Teams are not going to double cover him because the Dolphins don't throw down the field, and Henne is not Brady.  He is not the last piece of the puzzle that some are making him out to be.

On the few plays I've seen again (and those I noticed on TV), he was actually double-covered, in that the two guys did nothing else to contribute to the play.

Hardly a coincidence that the one play Moss wasn't double-covered, he gets a PI.

^^^Randy Moss caught passes from many quarterbacks not named Tom Brady, especially during his years with Minnesota, when they employed the rent-a-washed-up-quarterback strategy.  Look, this is all conjecture, as he's not falling - what 18 spots? - to Miami.  If by miracle he did, though, he should be picked up, if only to keep him away from a rival that's up two games in the AFC East race.

Randy Moss gets double covered at all stages.  First it's LB-CB, then CB-S.  It's not just the deep stuff they try to take away.

Wouldn't it be hell if the Pats got to flip this guy for a 3rd rounder and then got him back?  If he came back to kill us, we'd all go batsh*t crazy over how this could have been avoided with a waiver claim.

Name one time when Randy Moss gave a 100% to a team with a losing record.

I don't know about that.  Moss left after week 3 and Welker's numbers actually increased in week 4 and 6 (they had a bye week in between).  His numbers falling off in week 7 was largely just a factor of them not throwing for a lot of yards, they only had 159 total passing yards that week.  I don't think you can attribute Welkers number difference from this year to last totally on Moss not being in the lineup.  Probably has more to do with Branch and the emergence of rookie Aaron Hernandez being in the lineup.

Not to mention a torn ACL.

There are articles out ,with an interview Marshall said this morning He's ok, with Brining in Moss...
http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2010/11/miami-dolphins-brandon-marshall-wants-to-play-with-randy-moss.html

I'm on the fence,I understand what he brings to the table good and bad,and our offense (or more specifically our Horrid offensive play calling)...and think, not for 8 games....If he was a burner that could possibly return kicks,it would put me more in the yes category

But how does the cafeteria staff feel about it?  According a few mediots Randy Moss was the first NFL player to cut from a team for insulting the lunch lady.

No, Moss was cut for being the same disrespectful, selfish, loudmouth dickhead he's always been.   Wink
