The Dolphins received letters from a couple of teams scolding Crowder for trash-talking with fans and other players. Sunday's game in Oakland -- where some fans sit in ``The Black Hole'' -- ``is right up my alley,'' he said. ``They cuss me out. I cuss them out.''

really?  Opponents write letters to other teams whining that they got trash talked on the field?

That goes on in today's NFL?

Yep. This is why when Crowder was "allegedly" spit on in Baltimore by their FB, nobody believed him. Crowder is a punk who nobody respects or likes around the league. And IF the Baltimore player did spit on Crowder, then Channing probably brought it on himself by saying something that shouldn't have been said.

I was at the Oakland game today and Crowder did start talking some trash to the Black Hole before the game.  He actually ignored the fairly large section of Dolphin fans to the left of the endzone when we were shouting at him.

Another player (I think it was Benny Sapp) also went and trash talked the Black Hole, but he acknowledged us on the way back to the team.

Did you wear your gear? I remember it used to be a bad idea to wear opposing teams gear in Oakland.

I think all that stuff is overblown.

I had a big aqua Dolphins parka, a Ricky jersey, and a Dolphins beanie.  I got a couple of people shouting "BOOOO" while I was walking through the tunnels, and a few good-natured ribs while tailgating (I couldn't find the Phinvader guys, so I just hung out with some friends of mine that have Raider season tickets).  But I think the main people who have problems are the same people who would have problems at any away game: combative people that feel the need to aggressively talk trash to random people in someone else's stadium.

In general I agree with you but there is always an exception because of idiot home fans. I know as a Dolphin fan I have been annoyed by many, many, more Dolphin fans than away teams. I don't know how many Dolphin fans go over the top to attack opposing fans. I have had nice conversations with many of the other team's fans. Well ... except for Jets and Philly fans!!

^^^^ I agree with this.

I have a lot of fun talking trash and messing with fans of the opposing teams in UOP Stadium. It is always in good fun and we all laugh and have a great time. But we have a select group of dumbasses in our section that tend to try and pick a fight with anyone wearing an opposing teams gear.

Exactly. Sorry you couldnt find them. They were in the RV lot with the Bad Boys of BBQ. No one at the tailgate or in the Phinvaders section had any problems with the Raiders fans because while they rooted for the Phins, they were respectful to the home team fans. There is a video floating around the net of a Phins fan talking shit and throwing a punch at a Raiders fan. The Raiders fan then knocked him out. There's no need for that, and if he had been with the Phinvaders group, it would have never come to that. We would have had the guy thrown out. Wherever you go (except maybe Philly) as long as you aren't being a jerk, you will be fine.

I wanted to like Channing Crowder but I'm starting to anticipate him being traded..he's a cool dude he just doesn't produce nearly as much as he runs his mouth..nothing to back up what he's saying

Trading Crowder would be a very bad mistake, IMHO. (And one this front office has made before.)

We have Crowder next year for $2.5 million. If you find an upgrade over him, fine, we still NEED him for depth. Depth is one of our major weaknesses and the gap from Crowder to next-in-line is huge. $2.5 million may be more than you'd like to pay for depth, but you're only saving $600k over e.g. Tim Dobbins. So when new-really-good-linebacker goes down, we're screwed. That's a bad decision.

So getting rid of Crowder would, IMHO, require acquiring TWO players of equal or better talent.

There have been mulitple incidences of fans being physically attacked at Oakland Coliseium by Raider fans in the past. These are the same fans who threw batteries from the upper levels

Oh, I'm not saying that some away fans haven't been attacked (at OAK and elsewhere).  But I think they may have been the ones who are aggressive in arguing with the home fans.
