Tee shirt sales?

Most message boards I have visited have ads.

A few don't but those are usually supported by a company (for example a discussion board dedicated to travel that is a direct link off the travel agencies website and most of the discussion is regarding trips offered by that tour company).

A few charge a fee for some premium services.  One I know only allows you to edit your posts among other things if pay the fee but you can post for free.

This site has none of that.  Not complaining.  Don't miss the ads in the least or the constant requests to upgrade my membership from basic to premium...but just wondering does Dave just pay for the hosting as a hobby or is their some revenue model that I am missing.

I don't mean to speak for Dave, but there is no revenue model for TDMMC. This isn't about making money or t-shirt sales. This is about a website where we can all bitch and moan about our favorite NFL teams as well as other random topics. The small hosting fee he pays comes out of his own pocket.

^^^

A lot of them aren't about making money...but just trying to breaking even.  I didn't see how this site would even bring in the hosting fee.

I run a handful of ads on the homepage that bring in really small money (like 25 bucks a month).  The T-Shirt sales, we make nothing on.  We sold them at cost, or we make just enough money one year to give free shirts to our Mods as a thank you.

In the past, I used to be more aggressive about selling ads, that made us about 1000 per year, but that all went back into the site, for giveaways or mailing prizes or whatnot. (We sent flowers for condolences once...stuff like that.)

Our costs are very low.  Both Fausto and I work at companies that offer hosting, so we don't pay out of pocket.  I meant to put Google ads on the homepage, and maybe I'll do that.  It's not that I'm against making money, but it's never been the point of the site.

When we were asked to be mods,we were required to turn so many tricks per week to support the board in our area.

Unfortunately, most mods got girlfriends,or married, leaving this revenue stream to the motley, more homely mods....

I think I will use the homepage link in my browser, from now on just so Dave can get a tad more revenue from those ads...

Maybe I could quit hooking.... Cheesy

^^^^^ LOLROTF.

Did Sunstroke hack Lil B's account.  Cause that sounds a lot more like the response I would expect from Sunstroke than Lil B.

^^^ I swear, I was thinking the same thing... Maybe Lil_B and I worked on the radio show together for too long and now he's a twisted muthah just like me. Grin
