Rating QBs in the NFL

Discussing Henne and how it's difficult to find a QB, I had a friend over last night and we were making a list of the NFL QBs and separating them into 2 groups.  We squabbled a little bit about what to call the distinction.  We shuffled between "franchise QBs", "would this team draft a high QB", and ultimately settled on "teams that are happy with their quarterback".

It was a pretty tough exercise and there are some players were right on the edge.  Here's what we came up with.

Happy with their QB:

It's pretty split down the middle.  We had an disagreement over a few guys.  He wanted Sanchez in.  I wanted Tebow in (even though I think he's no good, I don't think Denver knows that yet.) 

We also were kinda torn on Carson Palmer and even McNabb.  Even though Washington clearly isn't happy with him, he's still a high level player.

Freeman, and Stafford throw me...I felt they like Freeman in TB,I think they Like Stafford,but the Shoulder injuries are mis fortunate? (I guess the best way to put it...)

A couple of thoughts on a quick scan...

* Cleveland probably isn't unhappy with Anderson, as Anderson is QB for the Cardinals now (replacing the "I don't know" in AZ's spot). I actually think Cleveland is pretty happy with Colt McCoy though.

* I am pretty confident that Detroit is happy with Matt Stafford...they'd just like him to stay healthy for a while.

* I am even more confident that Tampa Bay flat out loves what they've got in Josh Freeman.

* I haven't heard anything about Jacksonville being unhappy with Garrard, and I actually think he has outplayed expectations this season.

notice that the line seems also evenly split between teams that are "competitive" and those that aren't.

You have Edwards listed for Buffalo, but Trent Edwards got cut earlier this year (and I think Jax signed him as a backup).

You also have to look at the effect a coaching change makes on the QB position. For example- You have Schaub as "safe" in Houston. But if a new regime comes in, they may make the case to ownership that they are better off moving in another direction.

His name is Fitzpatric.  And views are mixed.

It's interesting to me that you have Hasselbeck as one of the not happy.  That's where I would put him too, but a recent article said that Miami was the only team that hadn't taken a QB in the 1st round in the last 10 drafts I think it was that is not happy with their QB.  Well Seattle was one of those teams that hadn't taken a 1st round QB in the last 10 years.  I was like really?

I suppose there were some who thought that.  I didn't then and I don't now.

But I can see where the article would think that Seattle didn't need a QB and the Dolphins did, so I guess I can't fault it.  Just when I read that, I was like huh?  Guess it's just me.

seattle invested in whitehurst on the trade with the chargers this year, so they are good at qb.

tb freeman is the other head scratcher here... freeman is growing into a real good qb.

I see that I have some errors.  I just forgot where some guys played.

As for Hasslebeck, it's not that he's a bad QB, but they're not a good team and he's kinda old, so they're probably in the market for a new guy to learn under Hasslebeck.

I don't know about Colt McCoy.  Would you say that Cleveland  is happy with him?  They seem to be a better team this year.
