Got this from the article below it.

“If we were coming back to be the same ol’, same ol’, it wouldn’t be acceptable to me, nor should it be to the fans,” Ross said. “I think the plan — and I told Tony I wanted to hear what he had to say, his input — it had to be something to me that I thought would create a winning team. Certainly the emphasis is going to be on offense – an exciting offense, more aggressive offense, creative.”

http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2011/01/miami-dolphins-owner-steve-ross-vows-to-deliver-a-winner.html

I know it is just words and it is easier said than done., but it was really important to me that there was an understanding between Sparano and the owner that this overly conservative crap has got to stop.  This league is changing quick and you may win close ones with a conservative game plan, but you sure as crap won't make any playoff noise that way (if you make it at all).

Don't get me wrong, I want to win.  But it is double worse when you lose in boring fashion.  At least give me a few moments to cheer.  I can't get thrilled by field goals unless it is a game winner.  And running Polite for a yard and a half on third down may move the chains but what does it matter when you fizzle out on the next three downs.

Now that I think about it, it has been somewhat fitting that the dolphin is a mammal without any balls.  Time to grow a pair already.

there was a report (not confirmed) that our TE coach George DeLone was leaving the building today with a box and a bunch of stuff.

Sounded like he was fired. But like I said that is an unconfirmed report by one of the newspaper guys who was trying to verify it before stating it as fact.

^^^ This kind of unconfirmed crap shouldn't even be mentioned.  It's fodder for the people who have nothing better to do.  Coaches from every team take boxes of stuff home at the end of every season.

Miami Dolphins beat reporters are reporting it. Why would you take boxes of stuff home? They still have to go to work in the offseason. Just because there are no games doesn't mean there isn't work to be done

^^^ I take boxes of stuff home to work on all the time, and not because I was fired.  Also, my point is that these "beat reporters" that you are referring to have nothing substantive to report, so they shouldn't be saying anything.  All they know for a fact is that a guy was carrying boxes.  Is that really news???  These "reporters" who are making these speculative comments are what's wrong with news today.  Are these the same guys who said Harbaugh was hired by the Fins?  Are they the same guys who said Sparano was fired?  Rpeating these made up stories is what makes the Dolphins franchise look foolish.

This alone makes me happy.  The word aggressive is the one that really got my blood pumping.  I hope this turns out to be true.

I agree, an agressive offense would be nice. Gotta have the players though. Marshall, Hartline, and Bess don't cut it. If you want to be agressive you gotta have speedsters who can break games open. Hit that home run. Our top 3 Wr's by NFL standards are slow. Moore and Wallace are bigger/slower guys as well.

Both RB's (obviously both or 1 will be gone) are slow. Our TE is slow.  You can call the most aggressive offense in the world, but you gotta have the players to execute it. We don't right now.

We are built like a Parcells team. Big, slow, grind it out, plotting team. You won't change that in 1 offseason. Especially an offseason that might last 2 weeks with a lockout.

P.S.......the ONE thing we can't do is bring in John Garrett as our O.C. He is the Cowboys TE coach and the brother of Jason.  If we bring in another Cowboys coach, seriously it shows nothing has changed. Enoguh with the Cowboys castoffs when it comes to players and enough with taking anymore Cowboys coaches

I agree with you in the sense that the Parcells style of football is out dated and clearly hasn't worked in some time now..but you want to revamp the entire WR corps?..how exactly would you propose that happens..and "slow" based on what?..did you go on Madden and sort by everyone speed ratings?

Marshall is slow and Bess is slow, but those 2 guys aren't going anywhere they will be back in Miami.

Hartline, Moore, Wallace. Those 3 guys are nice players, but if we could replace at least 2 of them with some speed guys it would help a lot.

You can't talk about changing to an agressive offense but not talk about turning over the talent. To do one you MUST do the other. Otherwise you are spinning your wheels in the mud going noplace. And all of these 5 guys are slow by NFL standards, nonoe of them have gamebreaking speed. Don't pretend they do

I think you mean David Lee.

And I would do it, but I think Pennington has his eyes on bigger things than being a football coach. He might want to go into business or politics

That isn't the first time I've called David Donald. lol Not sure why I keep mixing them up.

Pennington is a smart guy, and I'm sure he'd succeed in whatever he gets into.
