Who you rooting for?

I was on the fence until the recent lovefest for a career felon who killed himself evading the police as if he as if he was Pat Tillman, Dr. Jonas Salk, and mother Theresa all rolled into one -- now I am rooting for Pittsburgh.

I'm rooting for the Ravens.

Can you explain what you are talking about Hoodie? I've missed something or your sentence structure really has me at a loss.

^^^ Brian Reed

The way some people are talking about him you would think he was a firefighter who lost his life rescuing children from a burning daycare center.  And folks are rallying around Baltimore to win one in his memory.

Aha, I was trying to think of a Ravens player or alum who had committed suicide recently.

I hear ya, Hoodie...just because the guy is the brother of an great NFL player does not mean that he was a stand-up guy or, in this guy's case, even a decent human being.  I'm sorry that the guy happened to be related to one of your players, Baltimore, but seriously...the dude apparently was a thug.  I'm sure Ed's still taking it hard, yeah, but let's not make his personal loss grounds to act like the guy was an amazing person.

Anyways, as much as I can't stand The Raptistberger and was really pissed about what happened in our game against them earlier in the season, in general I at least respect the Steelers and their organization and how they are able to be consistent year in and year out regardless of FA departures and such.  OTOH, I hate the Ravens nearly as much as I do your Patsies, Hoodie, or the JeSt.  Even besides Ray-Ray, I don't find them to have very many likeable players (I do like Ngata, though) and some of their guys (McGahee, McClain, Mason), I can't stand.  Flacco's alright, I guess.  Regardless, it looks like I'm gonna be a Pittsburgh fan in regards to the AFC from here on out, as regrettable as that may have seemed before the postseason began.....

Can't really say I like either of these teams but if I had to choose it would be Baltimore as I really, really  dislike the Steelers.

I have been against the Ravens since Lewis watched as two of his boys murdered two people then helped them afterwards.

As one person on another board put it....it is an age old question: do we root for the murder or the serial rapist?

Well Lewis was convicted for his part after the crime. As of yet Ben has not been convicted of anything.

Steelers fans, as a population, are cocky.  Go Ravens!

You don't have to.  But I find if I don't pick a team to root for (or at least one to root against) than the game is not very interesting to watch.

I only "root" for one team really.  Whenever anyone else is playing, I'm usually just a casual observer unless I have some kind of stake in the game.  I gotta admit that I kinda wanted Indy to beat New York last week, but I wasn't really upset when the Jets won.  I actually wouldn't mind seeing Jason Taylor get a Super Bowl ring before he retires either.  I know, blasphemy, but hey I like the guy, sue me.  Him and Zach Thomas will ALWAYS be Dolphins in my eyes.  In some sort of strange way it would be like one of the Dolphins got a SuperBowl ring in this otherwise miserable year.
