Brad Childress (Vikes ex-coach) is coming to town tomorrow for an interview with the Dolphins.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6017674

He has every incentive to stay out of coaching... the Vikings owe him $3 million over two years, but any pay from the Dolphins would offset from that amount.

I don't know much about Childress; but the media made it seem like the players hated the guy.  Why would you even consider bringing someone like that into an organization that is in desperate need of some stability?

I was thinking the same thing.....if they hated the guy as much as they made us believe we should steer clear of him.

They hated him as a head coach.  Does that translate down the ladder to other positions?

I hated Cam as a head coach, but look what he is doing as an OC.

I think they hated him as much personally as they did having him as a coach. If you are an ass, it translates to every aspect of your life and every position you coach in.

Yes and he was a great OC prior to taking the gig as our HC but I do not remember, and I could be wrong, the amount of hate by the players towards Childress fired off against Cam.

^ Fair enough.  What about the hate fired off towards Sparano before his contract was extended?

some dudes just aren't cut out for head coaching..they're awesome assistants..but cant do the big job..(i.e. Wanny, Wade Phillips, Cam Cameron, Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary, Josh McDaniels, the list goes on)..I wouldn't mind Chilly in Miami..Favre and Moss gave him way more of a bad rep than he deserved

The Vikings players hated him as a person and thought he was a fake "tough guy". That he was a dork who would talk tough and act tough. Jay Glazer said players will respect a dork (ie Jim Fassell) if you are who you are. But if you are a dork who trys to be someone they aren't, then you are considered a clown and players don't respect or play hard for ya. I remember Glazer saying that in an interview and it struck me and I haven't forgotten it. Glazer said that these NFL players are "street smart" and they dont' resepct "fake" or "phony" people. That is why Childress failed in Minny and was hated.

He wouldn't be my first choice in Miami. And considering Sparano's still on the hot seat it would scare the hell out of me if we fired Tony by week 6 or 7 that Childress might become interm head coach, win a few and keep the job full time. For that reason alone I would rather not have Brad Childress anywhere near Miami.

I sort of understand Chilly.  He got screwed by having Favre.  He was a coach with no power, because Favre called the shots.

Half of the players in the NFL seem to be fake phony posers when the camera is on them.

...I dont know the guy either, but I think he's a pretty good coach and might do a good job. I think the media made him look like a bad guy, worse than he is, maybe he made some questionable decisions, even taking a chance with Favre that could of cost them a season and his job if you think about it. Favre lost the games for them this season and wasn't much help, so thats why they had to fire him. But they almost got to the SuperBowl year before so its hard to say...he's gotta know his s*** and I think the media made him look worse than it was.

You don't remember this debacle with Cameron kicking Keith Traylor off of the team, the players nearly committing open mutiny (Joey Porter called Cameron a gutless coward in front of the whole team, and the players applauded), and Cameron sheepishly asking Traylor to come back, only to have him refuse?
