What's next? A former Dolphins groundskeeper to be the new assistant special teams coach?

He is esentially the "GET BACK" guy on gameday. The guy who tells everyone to get back they are inching too close to the field. So it isn't like the guy has a big job.

But this just looks bad on every level.  I think its safe to assume short of a minor miracle, we will be in the market for a new head coach next offseason. These coaching hires have been just head scratchers!

I think a lot of folks are predisposed toward thinking the worst on pretty much any front office/coaching moves Miami makes right now. No one really knows a damned thing about Junior Sparano, but if you guys were my only source, I'd swear we just signed a clubfooted nazi pedophile with seeping acne or something.

I would hope that most of the board would catch that classic Caddyshack reference (even if StL got it a wee bit out of order<g>). ~ On a pop culture sidenote...can anyone name any line from any other movie that has spawned not one, but two popular cliches like that line from Caddyshack did? It starts out with the one noted here

Cinderella story...

...and ends with the other.

It's in the hole!"

Not for anything but you said that about this season.  Let's play a game or two before we fire the coach NEXT season, hmm?

WE WERE!! And when Harbuagh turned us down, we stayed with Sparano because Cowher and Gruden didn't want to work with Ireland.

BTW This is a bit of an overreaction.

Is it equally laughable that Kevin Gilbride Jr. as an offensive quality control coach for the Giants while his dad  Kevin Gilbride Sr., offensive coordinator?

Other notable coaches who started out as assistants to their dad:  Bill Belichick, Rob Ryan, Rex Ryan, Wade Phillips, Mike Nolan.

I thought that the strength and conditioning coach was the "get back" coach.  From the little I've found on the responsibilities of the offensive quality control coach, it looks like they break down film and scout opponents a couple of weeks out, and help during practice.  The roll varies from team to team.

My understanding was every team had to assign one person to be the "get back" coach and on the Jets assigned that role to their S&C coach, but it vary by team.

Also I don't think you will too much uniformity for coaches responsibility.  You will find similarity and those similarities might be stronger among some coaching trees, but very few absolutes on what exactly one title does and does not do.
