I agree with you Frimp.  Problem is Ginn can't catch in coverage.  I wish we still had his speed on the return game and I wish we still had a guy who could attract safety attention.  Could you imagine how open Marshall would be if the safeties had to watch Ginn streaking deep down the center of the field?  That's what makes Marshall dangerous - catching the ball in the open field.
Ginn streaking down the center of the field doesn't do anything to open up the offense unless the defense actually believes that the pass will be thrown his way accurately and that he would catch it. It happened exactly once I believe in his 3 years in Miami. That doesn't exactly scare defenses in the least.

I don't think Ginn was a "bad" player, he just wasn't worth a first round pick, and wasn't worth the money to keep him.  I like him as a kick returner and third down receiver.

If you're going to pick a coach, You have to pick Jimmy and here's why.

Not only did he jilt the dolphins and turn a contender into shit in '99, he gave us Wannstedt who blew 2002 out his ass and then we hired that walking talking pile of pigshit Saban on Jimmy's recommendation.  If you're going to put a coach on there, yeah Saban was bad, but without Jimmy, Saban never comes to Miami.

Big Daddy Fin just beat me to the punch. I was wondering when anyone here was goint to mention JJ.

-Jimmy Johnson came into Miami strutting around like he was the secong coming. He bashed Shula every which way he could in a very disprespectful way which I am sure ruffled some feathers with in the team......

-He brought in 4 gems in four whole years, so did a lot of teams. Most of his other picks were busts.

-He built up the defense but destroyed the offence. We had a God awful receiving group when Jimmy was here. He did nothing to give Marino weapons. The running game was worse off then when with Shula which is amazing since Jimmy was all about running the ball... When running didnt work for three quarters he would  then call on Marino after bashing him all week long to the media to pull them out.

-Kippy Brown said Jimmy was unbearable to be around when with the Dolphins. If they lost you couldnt speak to him and when they won it was never good enough. Kippy, said that Jimmy once said" We beat the bills, big deal. I won two super bowls".... Not exactly team building material if you ask me.

-Marino was the face of the Dolphins and jimmy couldnt handle that since he is such an egomaniac. He bashed Marino any way he could to the media. If Marino broke a record or pulled a game out of his ass  Jimmy would just shrug his shoulders. If Marino had an average game then he would blast him with thinnly veiled attacks.

-He NEVER EVER accepted that he messed up. He would either blame Shula, Marino, his mothers passing, injuries, or his bad hair, or blah blah blah........ After their first year going 8-8 Jimmy had the balls to stand up there and say "THIS ISNT MY TEAM". He basically said this team sucks and I didnt put it together. Not exactly team building materal if you ask me. After the second season when they went 9-7 Jimmy blamed injuries. The third season it was burn out and his mom died. The fourth season he just ran out of town since he couldnt fool the fans anymore.

I admit that I was a jimmy fan when he came into town. I wanted him here but he was a huge mistake in hind sight.... He brought us a great defense but he also tore down the offense to nothing. He brought a lot of negativity to the team by openly bashing the dolphins past, a former coach, current players, and their leader in Marino. He basically castrated his star player who was the Dolphins leader.

All in all Shula's team in his final fours years was better that Johnsons Dolphins in his four years.

we were all Jimmy fans when he came here.  And for awhile it looked like he was going to do it.  He drafted well defensively and then we actually got decent production from our running back the first year.

However, he failed to draft anything in terms of a reciever or a long term solution at running back.  He then handcuffed Marino by taking away the ability to audible at the line of scrimmage.

He also failed to get anything even resembling an offensive coordinator.  Why they had Kippy Brown calling plays is still totally beyond me.

He then retired and unretired in the 98 offseason.  I literally watched the entire team quit on him at the end of the 99 season which means he pissed off the whole locker room and that's tough to do in the NFL.  We lose in the playoffs to Jacksonville after Dan's Last Stand in Seattle and the only thing he has to say for himself is "I guess I worked the players too hard."

He brings in Wannstedt who not only wrecked two seasons as mentioned above but also ran Dan Marino out of town.  Not let him retire, not Dan has your arm/back/neck healed at all, ran him right the hell out of town.  He brings in the inexcusably crappy Ray Lucas and spends the next 4 years trying to replace Tim Ruddy.  Wannstedt then passes on Drew Brees in 2001.  Wannstedt also gives us Cris "he can't kick it that far/Little Crissy Fumble Face" Carter who cost us at least two games in 2002.

After the Wannstedt era plays itself out, we dump Jim Bates for Nick Saban on the recommendation of Jimmy Johnson.  Saban then passes on Drew Brees for Daunte "wasn't that good to begin with" Culpepper.  He also takes over the play calling at the most random times during games, resulting in a number of inexplicable losses in 2006.  He jilts the team, we get Cam Cameron, about 30 guys end up on IR that year.  We go 1-15.  If anybody hamstrung this franchise for years at a time, it was Jimmy Johnson.

I remember thinking the fins were improving every year with JJ but it was all hype and hope on our part. To the die hard Miami fan JJ was a genius who couldnt fail. He had a master four year plan that couldnt miss. Boy were we wrong. His first season the fins ended up 8-8 and after his fourth year they finished 9-7 so in essance no real improvement record wise. In the playoffs the fins looked like pretenders as we they were HUMILIATED three years in a row. The fins looked like a big joke on national TV while all of us down here were drinking the JJ kool aid.

Bottom line is the Dolphins were worse off after JJ left and then had the nerve to insert Wanny as the new head coach. This guy more than anybody deserves to be in the Hall of Shame.
