Maybe someone can make this a poll, but I want to know the general thoughts of this board.

How will the 2011 season take place?

A/ Canceled
B/ As usual
C/ Several games canceled
D/ Scabs
E/ Scabs for part of the season
F/ As usual, minus the preseason games
G/ Anything I missed, but I think I covered it pretty well. If you pick G, please explain why. Thank you.

season will be played in full under last years 2010 deal, and they will work on a new deal in the meantime.

I wouldn't be shocked if that is announced shortly to be honest. So some mini-camps can take place. Owners aren't going to sell any tickets and don't want to look like the bad guys when push comes to shove of being the group fo 32 elderly men that is denying the American Public of their sport.

I think this line of thinking is the reason that several games will be cancelled. Both sides aren't really working hard at a solution because they both believe the other side will cave once push comes to shove, but then push will come to shove and neither side will budge and they'll realize how serious this is when games start being cancelled and then they'll reach an agreement.

Added a poll and made the subject more descriptive.

Good topic, Frimp.

I think it will be shorten,in some manner, sort of because as Pappy mentioned....I feel even if they suddenly say we're under 2010's rules,we've still got to have a free agency period, and coaches will need/want/request 2-4 weeks for like a training camp.I feel if it doesn't kick in before mid July, the season will atleast get trimmed by 1-2 games...I voted C,but I think it will be between no preseason, and a couple of games...

Players have little to lose though, owners will come off with a huge black eye and lose the PR battle (which they already have but it will get  100X worse as the season nears).

Plus the TV networks will be all over the owners to end this, they don't want to have to give back add money to major sponsors.  All the pressure is on the owners, not the players. Players can run out the clock here. Thats why I think both sides will agree to play under 2010 structure and work something out in the meantime

Which is exactly why there is no reason for them to cave prior to the season. They have already taken a PR hit and they've already probably started to lose revenue by taking a hit on ticket sales. They won't give in until there's a ruling in the courts that really hurts them badly.

The players haven't started to feel the heat yet and they won't until they can't pay for something, but that time seems to be coming soon as some are already thinking about taking out high interest loans. Soon as that happens there's gonna be a lot of bickering between the elite players and the ones who are just cashing a paycheck. The owners are all in the same boat. The players have several different boats. Some are large yachts, some are little schooners and some are little dinghies. The question is whether or not the ones in the yachts are gonna just stand by while the ones in the dinghies sink.

Unlike the players, these owners didn't get rich off of football they were rich prior to obtainng the clubs. The players are going to drop as they certainly don't want to have to deleiver pizza to pay the power bill ... if you know what I mean.

I learned something since I voted for a shortened season. When the NFL put their schedule together they accounted for a way to miss the first three weeks and still not shorten the season. Based on that, my prediction might be wrong now.

^^^ I missed it other than seeing it run across the screen. Apparently they factored in things such as having those early season opponents having bye weeks in common, taking out the week before the SB, etc. Apparently they took the time to plan it out so it would work.
