the dolphins passed on the qb position when they had the chance. they need to live with that decision, and play out their plan. no sense in trading picks now.

wait out the draft, and then plug holes whenever free agency starts.

The trouble is, no player trades are allowed in this draft due to there being no CBA.  I'm sure the Dolphins would have tried to unload a couple players for picks.

What? Because they passed on him at 15, they shouldn't take him later? How does that make sense?

Now, I'm not saying they should give up next year's #1 or something stupid like that, but if you can find someone that is willing to trade next year's #2 and maybe this year's #3 or something like that, then I'd do it. I would. Sparano and Ireland probably won't.

Unless their "plan" involved passing on a QB early and then trading to get one later...in which case, that would be according to their plan.

it is what this fo does right? constantly chasing bad decisions, instead of making the right decision in the first place.

for 4 years they have been investing in this ol, and they still have to spend a 1st round draft pick to fix it.

they made the decision that the offensive guard was better than all the remaining skill position players available. have some conviction in that decision given you knew you had no second round pick. their decision was that they could pick up skill position players later in the draft or via free agency.

chasing bad decisions is what got this organization in trouble in the first place.

omar kelly is saying it might cost a 2012 first rounder to get dallas' 42. that's a great plan ireland has there. this is like ground hog day, ever throwing away high draft picks to try and chase bad decisions.

NE could really clean up tommorrow with 3 2nd rounders

3 - 2nds and 2 3rds.  And already stockpiling an extra 1st for next year.

^^^ Yeah, but that 1st rounder ought to have an asterisk attached, as New Orleans will be at the very back end of the first round next draft. Still was a good trade for New England though, as they basically pushed back to the same spot next year instead of this year, and got a late second round pick out of the deal.

Glad to see my 49ers leveraging a pair of fourth rounders plus their second to move up in round two to select Colin Kaepernick. Definitely a "developmental" QB, and not one I expect to see under center this season at all...but he has the size-speed-athleticism to give him really nice upside, and a QB upgrade was definitely what we needed.

Ryan Mallet is still there...can he slide to Miami?

Well... no surprises so far on day 2. Dalton and Kaepernick go quickly and the fixation with pass-rushers continues.

With our luck NE will stockpile enough picks next year they will trade up and draft Andrew Luck to sit behind Brady. So once Brady retires we will have another 15 years of hell.

I can see it now

Hey this league is about THROWING the football down the field.....and STOPPING the pass at all costs. Qb's, OLB's, and CB's are the most important positions these days and its not even close. RB's are a dime a dozen minus your Adrian Peterson type who comes along once every 15 years.  Hell GB won a Super Bowl with an undrafted rookie out of Buffalo...the college of Buffalo. New England has won with RB's by committee and by playing WR's at RB for christ sakes.

Some positions these days mean a lot, some mean very little. Pass Rushers, QB's, CBs....thats where its at. The rules are set up for them, the game has changed so much

Trading for the #1 overall pick is close to impossible. Even if the Saints wind up in the middle of the pack, it would probably require both NE's first rounders + their #1 in 2013 + a few second round picks.

And how do you nullify that threat?
