2011 NFC East Champions!

« on: July 28, 2011, 08:56:44 am »

You guys need to accept the fact that this duo's tenure as Miami Dolphins is finally over, yet from quite a few of the comments in the other forums, it's doesn't seem like you're ready to part ways with them.

The bottom-line with these guys is that they are just not that productive. I've copied over stats from NFL.com on both of these guys so that you can see their on-paper performance over the years - if you can even call it that. Ronnie Brown (the #2 overall pick in 2005) only rushed for 1,000 yards once in his entire career, and he barely squeezed it out with 1,009 yards five seasons ago. Aside from 2008 (The "Wildcat" Year where he scored 10 TDs), he has not been anywhere near as productive as a #2 overall pick should be in terms of finding the end-zone.

Ricky Williams is Ricky Williams. One strike away from an expulsion from the league, and clearly with his very best days behind him. He just turned 34 years old, which, for running backs, is a dinosaur. His stat line is erratic and he's been doing nothing but taking big shots at the club and the owner of the team.

Ronnie Brown:
2010: 200 Carries, 734 Yards, 5 TD, 3 Fumbles
2009: 147 Carries, 648 Yards, 8 TD, 1 Fumble
2008: 214 Carries, 916 Yards, 10 TD, 1 Fumble
2007: 119 Carries, 602 Yards, 4 TD
2006: 241 Carries, 1,008 Yards, 5 TD, 4 Fumbles
2005: 207 Carries, 907 Yards, 4 TD, 4 Fumbles
Season-ending injuries: 3

Ricky Williams:
2010: 159 Carries, 673 Yards, 2 TD, 4 Fumbles
2009: 241 Carries, 1,121 Yards, 11 TD, 5 Fumbles
2008: 160 Carries, 659 Yards, 4 TD, 5 Fumbles
2007: 6 Carries, 15 Yards, 0 TD, 1 Fumble
2006: DNP
2005: 168 Carries, 743 Yards, 6 TD, 1 Fumble
2004: DNP
2003: 392 Carries, 1,372 Yards, 9 TD, 7 Fumbles
2002: 383 Carries, 1,853 Yards, 16 TD, 7 Fumbles

It's OVER.

Bad pot-stirring.  They drafted a RB and traded for Reggie Bush.  I don't think there's any doubt the R&R express no longer stops in Miami.  Plus, I don't think that anyone disagrees with you.

I don't understand why you started your post with "you guys need to accept..."  I think most of us are against bringing them back to begin with...

I don't understand why you started your post with "you guys need to accept..."

Because I felt like it.

^^ so be it.

But I think you have a misguided basis for this post that we all love these guys and are delusional to want them back so badly.  You're not breaking any earth-shattering news to us here.

^ Let's prove this theory wrong.

Hey Dave, do you love or hate Ricky Williams?

Hey Dave, do you love or hate Ricky Williams?

And the assumption in your "proof" is that Dave = All Dolphins fans.

Feel free to modify the topic of this post to say "Hey Dave, Ricky's not coming back, and he's not that good anyway"

I love Ricky and still think he could have value to this team, depending on contract details.

He's not a premiere back, for sure, and maybe not even a starter, but as a change of pace guy, if the price is right, I'd love to have him back.

I think that we do have to admit that Ronnie was a disappointment, all things considered.

Agreed on Ronnie, but considering the other options at #2 that year, who would you have rather had?

^^^ Unfortunately, my Niners didn't allow Alex Smith to be available at #2...

As much as I hate it now, Ronnie was the Wildcat. Just that one victory alone in Foxboro made him worth it.  Ronnie was a solid player for us. He just wasn't what Ricky was in his prime.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Brown could do for the Pats.. we could use a RB

As for Ricky.. all I can say is burn out!! He is a wack job.. He could have been a great RB but chose pot over football. Remember that time he did (i think it was the show 60 min) that interview out of that hut..  Grin

Good.  He can dance around in your backfield repeatedly and get hurt every year.

After witnessing Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas and Lex Hilliard's performances tonight, I'd have to say Ricky and Ronnie will be no more than an afterthought this season.
