2011 NFC East Champions!

« Reply #15 on: August 29, 2011, 12:52:15 pm »

The Bengals have possibly the worst ownership in the NFL. They sign way-past-their-prime veterans (Terell Owens, Tank Johnson, Pacman Jones), they force the only player worth a damn on their roster into retirement (Carson Palmer) and they trade their next player on the list worth a damn on their roster after Palmer (Ochocinco).

They are mismanaged, unorganized, and they STILL have Marvin Lewis coaching them, which is an unbelievable commitment to not giving a shit whether you win or lose for many years now!

They can very easily go 0-16.

It is hard for a team to go 10-6 and come out of nowhere (like the Chiefs), but I'm going with my homer pick and select the New York Giants as the team with a breakout year this year, even if they only improve their W/L by +1.

Why the NYG?

1. No-one is talking about them (and I mean no-one)
2. Eli Manning has thrown for 4,000 yards and 25+ TDs the last two years
3. He will drastically cut down on the INTs
4. We have a beast at WR in Hakeem Nicks
5. Our defense has some nice young and up-and-coming studs
6. If our punter can catch the ball, watch out because he has a leg!
7. Our 2nd half of the year schedule is completely brutal, so we may only improve our W/L by +1, but it will be a significant one and we'll make the playoffs this season.

Huh Huh Huh  Why the eff would your punter be catching a ball?

Two 10-6 teams in your division.  One vastly improved in the off season.  One did jack.  Eagles win the division w/o needing the greatest team melt down in 40 years.

Because if he lined up under center to take the snap and then ran back to punt, he'd likely get killed.

If Kevin Kolb doesn't have any AJ Feely stink on him, I think the Cardinals could run away with the NFC West.  Outside of the Rams, I don't see any real competition there.

I say the Bucs.  They're offense is going to be killer this year.  They have a QB that should be hitting his stride, a beast of a WR in M. Williams who will only get better, a bruiser of a RB in Blount, speed with WR Benn and one of the best pass catching TEs in the league.

Their defense is very young, and will probably start out slow, but I believe they'll come around.  11-5.

KC.

Last year was their "breakout year".  This year, they will be in the thick of it for the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs will finish under 0.500 this year.  Super Bowl?  Meh.

I think that if you look really hard in all the nooks and crannies at your house, you may very well find some of your marbles.

The chance of that happening is about the same as Charlie Weis fitting into a pair of size 32 jeans

I think I'm with Brian although I wouldn't say less than .500.  I just have a hard time of buying into them. Two reasons. I think they lost quite a bit when Weis left and I think Cassel will struggle this year.

They won't be 10-6 again. 8-8 sounds about right.

KC wins "at least" 10 games during the regular season, and my honorary buck-drop would be on an 11-5 campaign.

Here's their schedule. What games do you have them losing? I personally can't see them winning @Chargers, @Colts, @Patriots, Steelers, @Bears, @Jets, Packers. They might win one or 2 of those, but then they would have to not lose any of the others and I don't see that happening.

1 Sun Sep 11, 2011 Bills
2 Sun Sep 18, 2011 @Lions
3 Sun Sep 25, 2011 @Chargers
4 Sun Oct 2, 2011 Vikings
5 Sun Oct 9, 2011 @Colts
6 --- BYE WEEK ---
7 Sun Oct 23, 2011 @Raiders
8 Mon Oct 31, 2011 Chargers
9 Sun Nov 6, 2011 Dolphins
10 Sun Nov 13, 2011 Broncos
11 Mon Nov 21, 2011 @Patriots
12 Sun Nov 27, 2011 Steelers
13 Sun Dec 4, 2011 @Bears
14 Sun Dec 11, 2011 @Jets
15 Sun Dec 18, 2011 Packers
16 Sat Dec 24, 2011 Raiders
17 Sun Jan 1, 2012 @Broncos
