So my question is:  how long is it before he winds up here.  Everyone knows of Ireland/Sporano's interest in former Cowboys.

I'd rather not have him here, btw, but I assume it's only a matter of time.  Gurode used to play guard so maybe they could bring him in to be RG and move Carey back to tackle and bench Columbo.

I thought this too. 5 time pro-bowler at center. Is he better than Pouncey? Could we move Pouncey to guard if we signed him? -EK

Nope. Knee surgery, age and salary requirements were why Dallas let him go. All 3 of those issues would likely also be an issue in Miami. I see no need.

This better not be the one ex-Cowboy we don't sign.

For once we actually need one of their castoffs!!!!!!!!

For what position? Pouncey has looked solid at C, but the right side of the line had a horrible game against the Bucs. Do you bring in Gurode to play guard? Or move Pouncey to guard and play Gurode at center?

He's a big, beefy center.  Gurode could certainly play guard...and did at times when he was with the Cowboys.

I don't know if he's washed up or not right now, though.

YES! Gurode to play guard. Vernon back to tackle

He upgrades our oline. If they want him at center and move Pouncey to a guard spot, fine. Whatever gets Colombo out of the lineup I am for. Colombo has been terrible in 3 preseason games and was GOD AWFUL last year in Dallas. I don't care how we get him out of the lineup or what shuffle we have to do, you do it!

Not to mention Pouncey has been shoved around at the C spot thus far. Not giving up on him or rippinghim, but it might take him a year or two to become a quality NFL center and build up his body correctly

According to Jeff Darlington the Fins aren't bringing in Gurode.

Assuming no one is brought in, might it make sense to move Murtha to right tackle once Jake Long is back? (And he had better be, Real Soon Now.)

The problem is that he sucked at guard and that's why he was moved to center. He's now on the downside of his career at center and you want to move him back to guard?

I think when Long comes back to left tackle, we will move Murtha to right tackle.  Carey seems to be getting better inside.  Murtha has done pretty good going against some strong players so I think he can handle the right.

With this line-up: Long, Incognito, Pouncey, Carey, Murtha - I think we are in good shape.

I reviewed every bad O-line play so far.  Murtha did have a few penalties but did great locking his hands on guys otherwise.  He did have a bit of trouble on a bull-rush in the last game but it wasn't responsible for the sack.  Most of the bad plays have come from Columbo and Jerry.  These guys have looked like chumps out there.  They can't handle speed and don't get their hands on defenders.  Incognito still wiffs on the occasional run block when he pulls but overall he has been improved over last year.  Our backups have pretty much played like backups other than Murtha.  Nate Garner seems to have been improving over the 1st three games, so maybe a little more time for him and he could compete for a starting position.

The biggest WOW is how big a step Jerry has taken backwards.  What a disappointment.  He must have done zero offseason work.  I have seen at least 5 plays where he didn't even touch the guy who went right bye him.  Horrible, absolutely horrible!

Murtha at RT gives us the best possible line with what we currently have. It doesn't make it a good unit though.

True.  It isn't a silver bullet but I think it gives us a good talent level.  With some continuity we could see that group develop into a nice unit.  After that it is on the coaches.

Murtha is a walking penalty. The talent level is low as long as he is starting
