our announcers on those preseason telecasts are terrible. Stockton and Griese know literally nothing.
I don't think they literally know nothing.

Wonderful. Another player that Pats pickup from us that will probably be a thorn in our side.

The Patriots have a HORRIBLE defensive backfield. Is it any surprise that they would take a hard look at any DBs cut from teams with very strong backfields?

Any thoughts on the Cook signing? He's started quite a few games for a very good Vikings line over the past 5 years (40, incl. 7 last year). Seems like he could be a solid addition... if Colombo continues to struggle, someone's going to have to step up and Cook has played all positions on the line, including right guard last season.

Is it just me or is anyone else bothered that the Dolphins have 5 TEs on their depth chart right now?

I was not aware that TE is the position you need to stock up on coming out of training camp.

It's unusual, but nothing to worry about. My thoughts are that 1 of them won't be on the Dolphins for long and probably the odd man out is Mastrud. Clay is not really a TE, he's an H-back which means that he'll have various roles from going out into pass patterns as well as staying in to block and carrying the ball. Fasano is your all around TE, decent blocker, decent pass catcher. Yeatman is your 2 TE goal line guy, he's a good blocker, not much of a threat to catch the ball and Rasario is supposedly a better receiver than any of the others. Not really sure what Mastrud's strength is, I believe he's more of a Fasano all-around player, but not as good as Fasano, so my gut says he'll be phased out as Rasario takes his place once he knows the play book.

I have a feeling he will be starting for us before September is over. And from reports he had a good camp in Minny. Sounded like a salary dump of some sort.

Not to beat a dead horse, but a 5th TE over Polite is just... puzzling.

not really. They are keeping the best players and the best talent. With Clay as a legit H-Back he can fill the FB role most of the time. And combine that with our new offense not having a big or almost any role for a FB and it makes sense. Daboll isn't the Parcells ground-pound football. The days of grinding out games are dead. This is a wide open offense that is gonna be pass happy. We have no need, like most teams these days, for a legit fullback. And if we have a guy who can fill that FB void when needed and also play another position (like Clay)... there is no room for a player like Polite who has a limited role on this team.

2nd that!  I don't know, maybe the new fangled OFF will not require the use of the FB as it normally did the last couple of years.  who knows, maybe Daboll is playing it close to the vest and has some tricks up his sleeve, I  sure as hell hope so.  I like Polite and what he brought to the table as a blocker and short yardage.

During the game last night Collinsworth mentioned the Packers kept 5 TEs and that he had never heard of something like that before.

I chuckled.

Dolphins visited with FB/TE Jeff Dugan who was cut by Minny.
