The problem with Henne has been putting together 2 or 3 good games in a row. He has had the occasional good games in his career. It's doing it consistently. Until he does the jury is still out. Although he got off to a good start last night. Now he has to keep it going.

He had a good game in preseason, people said "let's see him have two good games in a row"

He had another good game in preseason, people said "let's see him do it in a real game"

He had a good game in the regular season, against a real team, people say "let's see him do it again"

He will keep proving you wrong.  Get behind him.  He's our QB.  And he's not handcuffed by grandpa anymore.

i'm just happy that i was pleasently shocked by Henne last night.  game ball goes to everyone on the offense not named Marshall.  2 dropped balls for a touchdown, 1 of them inexcuseable...  he wants to be a big time receiver, he should catch like one.

the defense stunk out the place... its odd to see the  patriots have better conditioning going to miami.  if i were sparano the defense would doing running sprints till they puke!!! Grin

He's not proving me wrong. I am behind him. But the preseason games are worthless. But its gonna take more than 1 good game in Week 1 to make believers. I hope he proves everyone wrong, I hope he is great. But I am not ready to anoint the guy our QB for the next few years based on 2 preseason games and one great game Week 1.

Henne played well, but our redzone offense still sucks. Of course, when you are told to throw fade routes on 4th and Inches, maybe the playcalling is mainly to blame.

Like Maine said, Henne wasn't perfect, but he still showed a lot of improvement. Of course, playing the role of 2010 Chad Henne was our entire defense. Apparently, 2 hand touch is now allowed since we couldn't bring down anyone with a tackle. Our defense pretty much looked like San Diego State Tech A&M vs. Boise State.

Unless we get some resemblence of an actual running game our goal line will probably continue to suffer.

I've been told that in this new, wide-open offense, a fullback is meaningless.

Particularly a fullback who can only convert short-yardage situations.

exactly. We didn't use him in those situations for 3 years, so I don't see why it would have happened last game.

And if Polite is so damn good how come nobody else has signed him? Just answer that.

The guy sucks! He can't play. Lex Hillard did Polite's job fine last week picking up the stinkin yard when called on. Why didn't we give it to Lex at the goaline? He proved he can get the yard when needed earlier in the game.

We did not run a single play from the opponent's 1-yard-line last year, so I'm guessing that's why we didn't use him?  I know for damn sure that we would have used Polite over useless Lex Hilliard.  Speaking of which:

I'm guessing that the reason why you have such... interesting... takes on the game is because you aren't actually paying attention?

3rd Quarter, 4:31 remaining    Mia    1st & 1 at NE1    Lex Hilliard rush to the left for a loss of 1 yard to the NE2. Tackled by Devin McCourty.

That sure looks like they gave it to Hilliard on the goal line to me!  And he got a whopping -1 yard.  Hilliard's stat line for the night:  2 carries for 1 yard, 1 first down... oh, and a false start.  On a running back.  At home.

Tell me more about how pointless it is to keep a guy who can only do one thing: get one yard?

For the same reason that the front office cut Will Allen, kept Benny Sapp, then cut Sapp (whose salary is now guaranteed because he was on the roster for week 1) and re-signed Allen (who was also unsigned by anyone else)?  Sometimes, the front office doesn't know what the hell they are doing.

I know I know...Polite is so good 32 teams don't want to touch his greatness.

The same group on this board who were proclaiming Jason Allen as the 2nd coming of Deion Sanders last year is now out on the limb once again making Polite the next Larry Csonka.

And the person who said that a player that is useless because all he can do is get one yard is shown exactly how useful one yard can be in the very first regular season game.  MIA was at the NE 1 TWICE in that game and came up with 3 points.

Do you really want to defend the decision to keep Jason Trusnik over Lou Polite?  How about Will Yeatman?  Do you think Dante Rosario would have been snapped up by another team if MIA had cut him, or would he be sitting on his couch just like Polite?

The plain and simple fact of the matter is that on a team with FIVE F'ING TIGHT ENDS, and a multi-million dollar OL from a head coach that supposedly specializes in the offensive line, MIA was completely ineffective at the goal line.  I said Sparano would regret it if it came down to the team needing one yard, and the team needed one yard at the goalline twice and failed both times.  At the very minimum, putting Polite in the game would have freed up our receivers.
