it bothers me that we didn't run the ball on the goal line.  Stick Hilliard in and let him pound it in.

And the person who said that a player that is useless because all he can do is get one yard is shown exactly how useful one yard can be in the very first regular season game.  MIA was at the NE 1 TWICE in that game and came up with 3 points.

Do you really want to defend the decision to keep Jason Trusnik over Lou Polite?  How about Will Yeatman?  Do you think Dante Rosario would have been snapped up by another team if MIA had cut him, or would he be sitting on his couch just like Polite?

The plain and simple fact of the matter is that on a team with FIVE F'ING TIGHT ENDS, and a multi-million dollar OL from a head coach that supposedly specializes in the offensive line, MIA was completely ineffective at the goal line.  I said Sparano would regret it if it came down to the team needing one yard, and the team needed one yard at the goalline twice and failed both times.  At the very minimum, putting Polite in the game would have freed up our receivers.

You people are assuming too much with Polite. You assume if he was on the team you know what the playcalling would have been. You ASSUME for the first time in 3+ years Polite is on the field near the goaline and would get the ball. And you ASSUME you know what the Daboll would call for a play.

You are making HUGE leaps and assumptions. We gave up 600 yards, Polite or not we aren't beating New England. Some of you people are ignoring the big picture. Like ignoring the titanic sinking and looking at the ruined deck chairs. It's downright silly.

Once again, if Polite is so good and so automatic, how come nobody has signed him? How come Miami hasn't re-signed him like they did  with Will Allen? The front office admitted a mistake there and corrected it.

What some of you fail to realize is 32 teams are feeling the same way and Polite can't play in this league!! I almost hope we do re-sign him now, so when we do get the ball down by the goalline and he is on the bench and Henne is in a shotgun again I want to see your heads explode!!

I also saw Lex Hillard pick it up on 4th and 1 on a drive. Did the same EXACT JOB Polite did for 3 years!!!

Not some fantasy goaline thing Polite never did except on your video games or in your dreams. I saw Lex do it in the "real" role Polite actually had in REALITY!!!!

^^^^

Carroll never plays and got schooled on 1 possession by a guy who knows every trick in the book named Deion Branch.  After that you didn't hear Carroll's name the rest of the night.

Benny Sapp is now a pile of ashes somewhere around the 30 yard line where he fell trying not to tackle Wes Welker.

Good point.  Hilliard did get the 4th and 1.

A bunch of fullishness over all the Polite support if you ask me.  He was a good guy, decent player and didn't fail us when he was called upon but as I said before, he was a product of being on a team with an outdated offensive philosophy.  That philosophy had to go for good reason and his role went with it.  I would rather have an atheletic line with atheletic ball handlers than a slow line that could get a yard when needed.  Polite just got behind the center and guard and moved forward, what is so unique about that?
