Isn't this a weekly thread, even during a loss.  Even in 2007 when you lost almost every game.

Daniel Thomas

Showed promise as a strong inside runner, except for the fumble.  He's gotta get a better handle on the rock.

Agreed!  He also needs to stop spinning.  He's going to get himself killed!  But Houston has a decent run defense and Thomas looked pretty damned good.

HM:  Jason Taylor.  A couple key rushes, a huge key sack, some hits behind the line of scrimmage.  Old boy looked good!

pouncey is coming along really nice in the middle. clearing out a whole lot of space, and into the second level, when thomas was running behind him.

Thomas did well.  He just tried to do a little too much.  Stretching for the 1 yard to secure a first down is one thing.  Getting an extra yard after you just ran 30 is another.  Inexperience mistake.  He will get better.

Why do we hand out game balls during a loss?

In the words of Tevye the Dairyman, "tradition"  (okay that is only one word, not words)

Even in a loss there are players who do the right thing.

I'll join dolfan13 in giving the game ball to Pouncey. There were quite a few plays yesterday that made me think "look at the size of that running lane!" We could sure use more of that...

Why do we hand out game balls during a loss?

For the same reason why we hand out Goat Trailers (SOTG) during a win. You can always be better (if you win) and you can always take away a positive (if you lose).

Daniel Thomas....he was pretty damn impressive yesterday especially after not showing much in the pre-season. I hope the fumble doesn't become a consistant part of his game however!!!!!

Daniel Thomas.  The fumble sucked, but he had a pretty damn good debut.

I remember making a thread about "who will have a break out year", and Stroke said to expect Thomas to.  I agreed with him, but also predicted that he might have a bunch of fumbles as well.  It plagued him in college.  Hopefully he can learn to carry the ball better (like Tiki Barber learned later), and cut those down.

Ahman Green had fumbilitis his first season and went on to be a capable back in the league before he started getting injured.  If Daniel Thomas = Ahman Green/Tiki Barber, then I will be happy.

Why do we hand out game balls during a loss?

Because if we only gave them out after victories, we'd have a hell of a lot of extra game balls laying around.     Grin

Mine goes to Taylor.  He showed everyone else what personal responsibility is.  I hope they watch the game and realize an old guy with a bit of an injury outperformed them.

I would have given it to Thomas, but his fumble was a turning point from what looked to be a comeback performance.

Daniel Thomas. Played hard, loved the explosion. About the fumble, that was such a freak hit. Dude went to tackle Thomas and his shoulder pad clipped the ball out of his hands. I'll give DT a pass. Cheesy
