He is retired.  If you have a link to an interview where he expressed interest in coming out of retirement, please post it here.

Why on earth would he want to leave his cushy CBS studio to take over this crap-fest of a team?

Same goes for Jon Gruden.

Some of you "fans" need to wake up and think logically.

I feel pretty confident that Cowher will never coach again unless the perfect opportunity rises.  But it's fun to look at cool photoshops.

I disagree on Gruden. I think Gruden would jump at the chance of coming to Miami and trying to turn the franchise around under his terms which would probably mean full control. When Miami played on Monday night, Gruden was going on and on about how he'd love to see Miami become the powerhouse team they used to be in the 70's and early 80's. How it would be good for the league. Now he didn't come out and say that he'd like to be the guy that led them there, that would be bad form to insinuate that Sparano should be gone, but it was obvious that he has an affinity for Miami. He enjoyed his time coaching in Tampa Bay, personally I wouldn't think that Miami would be that much of a stretch. It's pure speculation on my part that he would take the job, but I think it's pure speculation on your part that he doesn't want the job.

I agree with Pappy.  I think Gruden wants to coach again.  Every time I watch MNF I get the feeling he's getty antsy for the NFL again.

And if Gruden had the chance to get a top QB prospect in his first draft with the Dolphins? Well I think that would practically seal the deal. Did you see Gruden when he went one on one with all the QB prospects in this passed draft? He was giddy as a school girl.

I would also take Fisher.  That guy got no support from a personel standpoint.  I don't know anybody that can do more with less.  Give him some finances and let him roll.

I prefer Fisher over Gruden as a coach.  I don't really know how either is in evaluating talent.  I can't stand Gruden on MNF, so that may be coloring my perception.

LOL.  You might be the least logically thinking person on this entire site.  Want to make a bet on whether Gruden or Cowher coach again?

Cowher is going to the Giants. BIG market. Super Bowl champion QB already on the roster. He loves NYC after working there for CBS for a few years now. And out of all the teams who will be in the market for a head caoch, NY can offer the most money.

Coughlin might not get fired but he is near 70,....66 or 67 years Old I believe and ready to retire soon. Cowher is waiting for that job. And probably ONLY that job. Maybe not this offseason but next.

The other team to keep an eye on with him is Houston. When there was talk Kubiak was OUT after last season Cowher was linked to them as he liked that job according to sources.

Cowher I don't think is going to take any other job outside of Carolina.  At least not while his daughters are at NC State.  I'm in the heart of Wolfpack country and you're probably looking at another 2 years at least, if he ever wants to come back and coach at all.

There are times when I think Jon Gruden just by his voice still has the urge to get back into coaching.  I don't know that he will either though.  I'm not thrilled by the list of names out there really and that's assuming Sparano even gets fired at the end of the season in the first place.

1) Carolina has the cheapest owner in the NFL
2) Carolina just hired a head coach last year
3) Carolina was ONLY attractive to Cowher when his wife was alive, she has passed now

I dont think Bill Cowher will coach the Dolphins if any team at all anytime soon, but Gruden will def coach soon. I've heard him talk about returning to coaching couple of times. He didnt say "if i return" but "once I return" to coaching....and I'd love to see him coaching the Dolphins, he would bring alot of fans to the stadium, he had won a Super Bowl with Tampa, which isn't far from Miami so I think he would enjoy coaching Miami and I hope he does. We need a change, whether its the QB, face of the franchise or new coaching staff. Miami hasn't had stability in years now, its like new QB/coach every other year. WTF?!

Brian,

Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcells, and Joe Gibbs would like to have a word with you.

Retired rarely means retired, until you're just too old to coach.  Neither Cowher nor Gruden remotely qualify under that standard.
