Brian is 100% right.

Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden, Jeff Fisher, or any other coach worth a damn will coach the Dolphins next season. The owner of the Dolphins is a complete joke. Why would any head coach want to come in to that situation? All three guys are already rich...what's the point of putting up with it when another oppty with a better owner and organizational structure will come along eventually?

The Dolphins best shot is a 1st-time coach from college or an assistant looking to coach a team for the first time.

Why is Ross a joke?  Apparently, trying to hire Harbaugh was the right move.  We didn't fire Sparano first, and perhaps that is were the criticism is coming from but we didn't get Harbaugh so not firing Sparano ended up being the right move.

He seems willing to use his finances.  He wants to improve game experience and take away the shitty Dolphins song (hallelujah).  He wants a more explosive offense.  What's not to like?  What is counter productive?  I kind of like the guy.  He is aggressive and wants to get things moving, he didn't create the current situation.

The way he handled Sparano was strictly bush-league, and an embarrassment to the organization; when talking heads are devoting segments to discussing how bad the actions of an owner were, you done f*cked up.  There is no reason why an owner's name should be in the news for negative press he has created, period.  (His declaration of the 2010 Dolphins being Super Bowl-bound and proclamation of Henne as the next Marino also do not help.)

Right now, Ross is perceived as a buffoon.  He's been an owner for, what, 2 years?  And already, he has built a name for himself in the league with all of his shenanigans.  Did you hear Arthur Blank's name in the news (right after Blank bought the Falcons) as often as Ross' name has been?

As a 49ers fan who is absolutely thrilled with the new attitude and level of preparedness that SF has shown this season under Harbaugh, I think Miami going after him was as smart a move as a team owner could make. Don't get me wrong...I'm glad Miami didn't get him, but pursuing him was definitely a smart move.

Another potential new head coach next year is another Cowboys asst., Rex Ryan's brother.  Wouldn't that be great if we got him!  Grin

Rob Ryan would be a great fit here.  The players have tuned out their current coaches in Miami, and I don't think it's possible to tune out a member of the Ryan family.   Grin

Sure he has a cushy job, along with Gruden @ what 2 or 3 million per year?  Money talks and they would easily double that in a HC position.  Would not be surprised to see either one here, but my gut feeling is leaning towards jeff Fisher coming here in the offseason.

Rob Ryan won't join the same division as his brother. Hell Jim Harbaugh didn't want to join the same conference as his brother which played a huge role in not taking the Miami job which by reports paid more than the SF job. Rob won't go head to head vs his brother.

Not to mention Rob isn't Rex. Rob isn't ready to be an NFL head coach yet. Everyone saw how he acted after the week 1 Dallas loss to the Jets, thats why nobody will hire Rob anytime soon.

I dont think Bill Cowher will coach the Dolphins if any team at all anytime soon, but Gruden will def coach soon. I've heard him talk about returning to coaching couple of times. He didnt say "if i return" but "once I return" to coaching....and I'd love to see him coaching the Dolphins, he would bring alot of fans to the stadium, he had won a Super Bowl with Tampa, which isn't far from Miami so I think he would enjoy coaching Miami and I hope he does. We need a change, whether its the QB, face of the franchise or new coaching staff. Miami hasn't had stability in years now, its like new QB/coach every other year. WTF?!

Gruden did with Tampa what Larry Coker did with the Miami Hurricanes... won with the previous coaches players!   People talk about Gruden leading Tampa to the Super Bowl... That was Tony Dungy's team and you see what happened with Gruden and Tampa afterwards.    I really hate the credit they give Gruden with Tampa!    He inherited a very talented team from Dungy and Dungy proved his coaching ability by taking the Colts to the Super Bowl.

Gruden did do a nice job with the Raiders though... I'm not a fan of Gruden.   I like his knowledge in working with QB's and offense but I'm not sold on him as a head coach!

^^^ Gruden managed to get his team in the Super Bowl to play his former team -- and win.

That's pretty freakin' impressive, any way you slice it.

As for what happened in Tampa after that, part of that was certainly due to the extreme cost of bringing in Gruden in the first place: 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks!

If I am correct, no coach has ever won the super bowl with two different teams.  But considering Gruden's age and the fact that he also went to the super bowl with the Raiders, I think he has a little more potential than most coaching transplants.

You are seriously underestimating the ego's of these guys. Most of these guys figure they can fix anything no matter how broke or how bad the owner. They all look for challenges and often get antsy when they aren't feeling challenged.

Again, I'll say that I don't know that any of them are willing to come to Miami and it's pure speculation to think they will be Miami's next head coach, but on the other hand to simply rule them out because you don't believe they'll want to work for Ross is pure speculation.

There was plenty talent on that team!  Yeah loosing 1st and 2nd round picks hurt but that team was stacked and they went down hill very quickly under Gruden!

Sure he made it with Tony's team, but the team he faced was the one he had built. So it is not a stretch to believe that Gruden would have made the SB that year if he had stayed with the Raiders.

That was the GRUDEN BOWL that year. He lived the phrase, he could take his and beat yours or take yours and beat his.

And if not for the "tuck" game people think Gruden might have another ring as the Raiders were a very good team that year.
