Although the subject is worded somewhat sarcastically, it is a sincere question... particularly for those who were not able to watch the game.

I saw some assorted clips (but no score) around the middle of the day and noticed that they were almost entirely of Dolphins making plays and celebrating.  The emotion that I experienced was not joy... more like a creeping sense of dread.  Checking the scoreboard confirmed it.

Of all the teams on MIA's schedule to win against, this is one of the worst.  IND also played against KC, so we don't even get the benefit of lowering MIA's SoS (relative to IND).

Not happy.

I'm always happy to see the Dolphins win.  However, considering what's at stake here, you could call this a Pyrrhic Victory.

I was happy for the players...if nothing else.  They've worked so hard to suck so badly this season, and it must have been nice for them to have put this thing away by the 4th quarter.  It was like watching a kid in the Special Olympics win and feeling happy for them knowing that in the morning they'd still be retarded. Evil

Speaking personally, it was so nice to actually see a dominating performance today, even though midway through the 3rd quarter I was kinda scared KC was going to get things going and end up beating Miami in OT.

Today, I don't care if it endangers the team's chances for Luck.  It was nice to get off the O'fer list.  I feel a weight was lifted if only for a week.

Yes, I was very happy we won today.  I'm going to root for us to win every week.  Me rooting or not rooting for the team is not going to affect our draft slot, so I'm going to root for them to win.  I understand why people want to root for us to lose, but having said that, I think your a bad fan if you do it.

I don't understand how that makes you a bad fan.  One win today sacrifices a decade of wins.

Really...what's the difference this year between 2-14, 1-15, or 0-16.  ....who cares?  One is really no better than the other.  Each is pathetic.

But if you're the worst, you have a much improved chance of being really special for years to come.  I don't think that you should TRY to lose.  But I don't think I'm a bad fan for being happy when we do.

I'll put up a -1 to make it even again since that doesn't make you a bad fan.

You should root for your team to win every week because YOU hoping for them to lose is not going to affect when they pick in the draft, their play on the field does.  A good fan should root for their team no matter what.  I completely understand that losing out gives us the best chance at a QB since Marino left, but rooting to lose is just pathetic.  It's going to happen whether you wish to win or lose....why not wish to win?  That's what being a fan is about.

I still don't understand your logic.  If the outcome is going to happen however you root, then what's the point of rooting to win, either?  It doesn't matter, but I would like to root for what I want to happen.  ...not what I don't want to happen.

I wish to lose, because it is a long-term positive.  Losing today is good for the team, overall, in my opinion.

I hope that we lose, because I am hoping to get better.  Winning today stunts that, in my opinion.

I think this is the stopping point of our argument.  I know where you stand, you know where I stand, and I don't think either of us can add much to change the others opinion.

Exactly.  Rooting doesn't make a difference either way, but I fail to see what that has to do with being happy or disappointed at the outcome of a game.

Dolphins fans should be happy for this week and knowing that their team does have the talent to win 1 game.

But honestly - every team in the NFL has the talent to win AT LEAST 1 game a year. But, you can't go 1-15 each season.

This is one of those games where people will forget about the past 7 debacles and think "Hey, you know what, this Matt Moore kid has something here" and then not draft a QB because of this one game performance. It masks deficiencies that are not masked when you lose.

If they go on a few games winning streak here, not only would that hurt their draft position but it would also skew or mask the real problems that the team has - as they say, winning is the best cologne.

One win today sacrifices a decade of wins.

No it doesn't. Quit buying into the bullshit hype that the Dolphins absolutely have to lose every game now to be better in five years. You have a theory that one win today sacrifices a decade of wins. There is no fact behind it. Luck could be a bust. Luck could be a decent NFL QB, but Jones could be a star. Luck could be the #1 pick then get a career ending injury (not that I am wishing anything remotely like this at all).

A win today does not sacrifice a decade of wins. There is no evidence to support or contradict it. It is just a made up theory. I'm really disappointed that someone who tends to think as much as you do about most aspects of your life has fallen into this position. Yes a win today does lessen our chances of getting the #1 pick this year. No, it doesn't prevent us from winning for decades.

Adding the truth behind the matter. What will prevent us from winning for decades is ineptitude of the front office.
