I actually had more non-Dolphins fans laughing at us last night than I had been picked on in a while.  It seems most other teams thought we should should be mailing it in too.

BTW nad it's off topic so I apologize ... There were three tables of fans watching the Broncos game last night at the sports bar I was at. I don't think any of them were atually Broncos fans as there were a more Gator things than even "Tebow" Bronco jerseys.  He certainly has a following.

Back on topic.

No I am not happy with a useless win. It's actually odd that a loss benfits us more than a win but that is the reality. In fact I think this win will turn into much more.

I thought I would be torn, but as it turns out, I'm not.  It was a good Sunday. I'm pleased that this team hasn't quit.

I want Luck as much as anyone, but I feel we weren't going to get him.  My greatest fear was going winless and still losing Luck to another winless team (Indy).  That would have been so demoralizing for me.  There are some other QB options for Miami.

I hope that we lose, because I am hoping to get better.  Winning today stunts that, in my opinion.
Your flaw is that losing today means we get better in the future.

I don't think you can say this with rock-solid certainty.  You're fooling yourself if you think you can.

Losing today gives you a possibility to get better later.  Your additional flaw is that the ONLY way to get better is to lose EVERY game.  There are multiple ways to get better, only one of which includes losing 16 games.

Andrew Luck is not a guarantee, despite what EVERYONE seems to think.  Andrew Luck may be a guarantee on some teams, but not on the Dolphins.  There are so many holes on this team that need to be filled that adding Tom Brady to this team wouldn't make them a contender.

Putting all your eggs in one basket could also cripple the team, should the basket break and fall apart.

Peyton Manning was number one pick in the draft.
Ryan Leaf was the number two pick in the draft.

Missed it by that much. No guarantees but odds do increase.

Tim Couch, Jamarcus Russell, Jeff George, etc. We can play this who went #1 and who went #2 game all day long. None of it affects the future careers of Luck or Jones.

Dolphins fans should be happy for this week and knowing that their team does have the talent to win 1 game.

But honestly - every team in the NFL has the talent to win AT LEAST 1 game a year. But, you can't go 1-15 each season.

This is one of those games where people will forget about the past 7 debacles and think "Hey, you know what, this Matt Moore kid has something here" and then not draft a QB because of this one game performance. It masks deficiencies that are not masked when you lose.

If they go on a few games winning streak here, not only would that hurt their draft position but it would also skew or mask the real problems that the team has - as they say, winning is the best cologne.

Keep stirring.  The Dolphins could win the rest of their games this year and that would not hide the fact they need to draft a QB in the first round, whoever is available.

jones has all the qualities of a top notch nfl qb. the gap between him and luck is a lot smaller than the gap between luck and barkley.

unfortunately, with so many teams in need of a qb, you can see luck and jones going #1 and #2.

if you were to mix barkley in with this past years draft, he's probably #5 or so qb. last years qb class was a lot deeper... at this point, barkely might benefit from staying in school one more year.

No it doesn't but the point is the higher the pick, the better the odds. With all the picks that have been taken at QB there are really very few guaranteed elite Qbs like John Elway. None of the ones you mentioned were. Hell Dan Marino wasn't even considered a guarantee.  They all had question marks that Luck does not. Neither did Elway. While not a guantee it certainly increases your odds. Get past Jones in selecting and your odds decrease to the point where you are drafting another Beck and Henne again and hoping you'll find a gem. It happens but odds are tougher.

It's bittersweet. I was actually happy for the players who must have felt like a great weight was lifted from them. Also I did actually have the stomach to watch several post-game reviews which was a nice change. I do however wonder if Miami just made the first pick in the draft out of reach. If they did, so be it, but I'm not exactly happy about it.

Of course it isn't certain.  I know that Luck isn't a guarantee or anything like that.  It's possible that he sucks or falls down the steps and never plays.  However, it sounds like Luck is one of those guys that is as close as you can get.

He may very well be terrible, but knowing what we know TODAY, he gives you the best chance at long term success (and way more of a chance than the #2 in line).

What I really also like about Luck is that everyone would be behind it.  Any coach would be happy, the GM, the owner, and the fans would all be in line.  In addition to that, you know you your starter is for the next 3 years, period (even if he sucks).  The direction of the franchise is as defined as it can be and it makes it easier to get those wheels in motion.

I think this is a misnomer brought on by the media hype as well as casual fans. Many sources rate the top 2 QBs very close.

I think the worst part about yesterday was that they played so good, it doesn't look like they will only win 1 game.

i was a big jones doubter, mostly because being a longhorn i can't freaking stand ou. sunstroke pointed out a good comparison of barkley vs jones a while ago, and have been watching jones more closely.

he can make all the throws, big time arm, size, accurate... only thing you can pick at with jones is he plays a lot of spread, and has tremendous talent at the skill positions. jones would be a great pick, and can definitely be one of those franchise guys. jones will be gone before the #3 pick.

a lot more question marks around barkley. average size, decent arm strength, and plays in a loaded offense (woods is one of the top wr in the country). he'll probably be considered a reach in the top 10 picks.

I see them beating Washington next week too.  But if you look at the rest of the schedule, I think 2 - 14 is the best Miami will do

I was happy that Miami actually played a full game with some umphh!!  They played a complete game,  no blown leads, few penalties, key players contributed, and of course the "W".  Chuck one  up , better win now than late in the season when it gets tougher.  Its a hell of a lot better than 0- 16 so all of you nay sayers saying you are not happy with the win need  to shut up.  It was a very good win for the Phins and what they are goin through.  Also, those who been watchin, see that the Phins were in pretty close games despite being 0-7 . Blown leads and not finishing,  we could have been 4-4  or better.

Just be glad man  Grin Grin Grin
