This is something that we'd hoped for at the beginning of the year, that the defense was going to be pretty good, and we'd hope for some improvement from the offense. It started looking that way, with Henne playing better, but the defense was a turd out of the gate. I wonder what happened? Which is the true Dolphin defense? The one that sucked to start the season, or the one shutting teams down now?
This also leads us to thinking about next year...does our defense need big changes?
Couple things in response....
1) Henne wasn't playing better. He is out for the year so not worth harping on it but he as bad if not worse than last year. This notion he improved is silly. He had a good opening drive on opening night after that it was all downhill and he sucked.
2) GOING FORWARD.. Miami needs to get YOUNGER on offense (at both guards, RT, TE, and QB) and get more athletic on offense. And the Fins need to get OLDER on defense (more experience in the secondary and a vet pass rusher). You can't fix all those problems in one offseason of course. But that's the blueprint as of today. Make a nice dent in it this offseason and hopefully polish off the job the following offseason.
