Orton asked to be waived and was granted his wish by an inexperienced president by the name of Elway.  I hope this move comes back to bite them, as Mr.Tebow is one hit away from landing on injured reserve and with his style, that hit will come sooner than later..(see Mr. Vick!)....

....really don't get this move?Huh...the Broncos are legitimately in the hunt for their division and still have games left against Chicago and KC, whom Orton will surely play for one of these teams this season.

Tebow may be winning, but his accuracy is HORRENDOUS and will eventually lead to his demise in this league.  Orton, however, can be a serviceable starter and excellent backup....only time will tell?

He is better than Losman.  Benching Moore for him would be foolish.

Orton was claimed by the Chiefs.

FYI, the reason Orton was NOT a free agent was because the transfer deadline had passed. Players waived AFTER the deadline are placed on waivers, regardless of their seniority. Before the deadline, 4 years of service will get you instant free agency when waived.

Not surprised.  Tyler Palko looked GOD AWFUL against a shoddy New England defense.

I am sure this has the Bears reeling at the moment. Palko sucked for the Chiefs so I kind of understand the move but I do not think they are serious contenders for a playoff spot as they have too many injuries so that makes me question it a little bit. Either way I think this hurts the Bears more than anything.

Could be that the Bears and Chiefs both put in claims for him and the Chiefs got him because their record is worse.  Matter of fact, I'd bet my boat that is what happened.

I am sure that is what happened as well.....still I think this really hurts the Bears more than it will help the Chiefs.

Now that I can agree with.  Although if that kid who took over for Cutler in last year's NFC Title game can duplicate what he did, they won't need Orton.

Every team should have put in a claim on Orton honestly. Play him or let him ride the pine. He walks at seasons end and you would pick up a COMP pick in the draft.

It's like picking up an extra draft pick for doing nothing. Even if it ends up being a 6th or 7th rounder, who cares. It would have been worth it.

For $2.4 million? Really?

For an NFL team that is nothing.

7 round picks aren't exactly worth much, either.

It also seems far from certain that a team would actually get an extra pick out of it. Teams only get a pick if they have a net loss. Not all teams would be in the "net loss" column, even with the loss of Orton. Those teams would get nothing out of it. Then there are the teams at the other extreme, who are likely to max out at 4 comp picks. Then there's the issue of "filler" picks awarded to get the total number of comp picks to 32. Last draft, 11 teams were awarded a "filler" pick, based on their position in the draft, not their compensatory pick status. If the next draft is similar and Orton projects to a 7th round comp pick, the top 11 teams in the draft would gain nothing.
