This may be mostly because he hasn't played, but the guy's taking too many sacks at the worst times.  He took another one that knocked us out of FG range and one down in the red zone.

He's protected the ball well, he's shown that he has the arm strength to throw the ball deep.  Is it me or do we possibly have a Quarterback?

No, it's not just you. You couldn't ask for a better production over the last four weeks. The only problem I have is with him not taking off with the ball when there is an entire side open.

I think he's shown more in his brief time with the Dolphins than Henne did.  I'd like to keep Moore around next year to help with the first rounder we'd better draft.

He isn't an NFL starting QB. Beating up on KC, Washington, and an injured Buffalo team doesn't erase his entire career. He was on a mini-hot streak, he was playing well. You don't get all goofy and hand the guy a starting job or give him an extension, or worse yet ignore the position and bank on him as "the future"

He is an ordinary player and not an NFL caliber starting QB. Good enough to be on a bench somewhere and play in a pinch. That's it. Nothing more.

Let's revisit this in 5 games...

Regardless of what he shows, I'm a firm believer in grabbing a potential franchise quarterback if you have the chance.

His entire career?

He had one good year with Carolina and like 5 bad games before getting hurt.  Now, he's having a good year again, and you say he has had a horrible career?

Based on what FACTS?

More bad games than good ones. And based off of he can't stay healthy. He can't stay on the field. He missed all of 2008 and most of 2010. And you are giving him 1 good year in Carolina. That is being very kind. What are you his uncle? Cousin? He hasn't had a good year in his life. He has had 2 good stretches in his life.. That's it. Playing 5 decent games on a bad Carolina team in 2009 isn't having a good season. It was just 5 games. And this year he had a good 3 game stretch which look like it ended Thursday.

This is my thinking as well.  On one condition.  We get a cheap veteran backup to mentor these guys.  You're not going to get Don Strock but somebody who's a Don Strock type.

After watching him now for several games I think I can finally make a reasonable observation about him. He's decent for sure but not a game changer.  While in the short term he could do a good job as has been seen ... he isn't one who can put the game on his shoulders. He makes most of the plays but he isn't going to make other players better.

I think one of the biggest issues is that we have had so many bad QBs  for so long that we hang our hats on every  Fiedler, Henne and Moores that come along when they should be our back-ups.  Since the QB is arguably the start of a great team, don't you think it's time we go after a game changer ... what ever that is?

This was the first game I was able to watch him. Does he ever run? There were at least a couple of plays where he could have easily run for a first down or more but chose to throw bad passes instead.

Here's the tale of the tape. I think most of you will be shocked to learn that for all intents and purposes, Henne was having a better year than Moore has had to this point.

Henne in 4 games: 63 of 109 for 860, 4 TD's and 3 INT's. 57.8% complete, 3.7% TD, 2.8% INT rate. 7.9 yards per attempt

Henne ran 13 times for 113 yards for 8.7 yards per attempt and a TD and sacked 11 times for 67 yards for 8.3% sack rate and 6.1 yards per sack.

Moore in 8 games: 133 of 212 for 1561, 8 TD's and 6 INT's. 62.7% complete, 3.8% TD, 2.8% INT rate. 7.4 yards per attempt.

Moore has run 12 times for 60 yards for 6.0 yards per attempt and a TD and sacked 24 times for 151 yards for 9.8% sack rate and 6.3 yards per sack.

Moore has also shown an alarming tendancy to fumble having fumbled 9 times already. Henne only fumbled once.

My problem with Matt Moore is that he's someone else's castoff garbage.  It's great that he's played relatively well.  However, I'm ready for a franchise player at that position.  I'm ready to find a player we like, that we think has the potential to be a hall of famer, putting our eggs in that basket, and taking a shot.  You might fail, yes -- but it's a clear direction and an attempt to seriously make a run at a dynasty.  Sure, Trent Dilfer won a title, and maybe Matt Moore could, as well, if given a all-history defense like the 86' Bears or Ravens of a few years ago.  However, if you're making a gameplan for success, I don't think that's the path of least resistance.

Bundle your picks, suck it up, and take a gamble on a guy who's going to make a real difference in the NFL.  Moore isn't that guy.  He's played pretty well, considering, and probably deserves the right to stick around and be there if we need him later.  But if you're looking to groom him into your long-term QB, I think there are better ways to go about it.

If he gets hit he gets hurt easily. And he still has bad ribs from earlier this year. Which is why he isn't running as much as he should

It's not battle of champions! At the end of the day they both suck in reality. So one sucks more than the other, who cares. Only 1 more month of Moore than its on to the next guy anyway. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.
