2011 NFC East Champions!

« on: November 28, 2011, 12:13:37 pm »

Right now, Houston is the #1 seed in the entire AFC. Not just the South, the entire AFC.

They are about to have a fall from their 2-game lead in the division and most likely won't even make the playoffs this season. This is why I am calling it a bold prediction (get it? I even used bold font-type).

Current Standings:

Houston: 8-3
Tennessee: 6-5

Remaining Schedule:

Week 13:

ATL @ HOU (ATL wins, Houston goes to 8-4)
TEN @ BUF (TEN wins, goes to 7-5)

Week 14:

HOU @ CIN (CIN wins, Houston goes to 8-5)
NO @ TEN (NO wins, Tennessee goes to 7-6)

Week 15:

CAR @ HOU (CAR wins, Houston goes to 8-6)
TEN @ IND (TEN wins, goes to 8-6)

Week 16:

HOU @ IND (HOU wins, goes to 9-6)
JAC @ TEN (TEN wins, goes to 9-6)

Week 17:

TEN @ HOU (TEN wins, goes to 10-6 while HOU loses and goes to 9-7)

And yes in case you're thinking about it, Week 15 CAR will come into town and ruin everything for Houston by winning in a marginal upset. Quite frankly I'm not convinced that they'll beat IND in Week 16, but IND is so bad that anyone with any QB can beat them.

Then, in week 17, Tennessee will avenge the 41-7 ass beating from earlier in the year in Reliant Stadium to knock the Texans out of the playoffs. That's if Tennessee doesn't do an upset special on the Saints in Week 14 at home (Tennessee did beat the Ravens at home back in week 2 - so it's possible for NO to go on the road and drop one).

So there's my bold prediction.

Carolina is dangerous, but they don't have it all together.  I can see them being a wildcard -- play really well or poop the bed -- neither would surprise me.  When you are led by a guy like Newton, who's capable of playing really well, but also takes risks and can throw a lot of INTs, anything can happen, even moreso than usual.
