Watch them go at it. Skip taking the "PRO-Miami" side. He makes some valid points, but goes a little overboard. Stephen A brings up reality!

Geez I can't stand Stephen A Smith, even if he is right.  He needs to stick to 2 minute NBA segments.  Gave me an excuse to re-watch the Hitler video though.

He has earned the nickname Screamin A. Smith for good reason. But you are correct even when he is correct he is tough to take

Some of the points Steven A makes against the Dolphins victories can be also used against other teams with better records.
Also he never addressed the fact the Dolphins did smoke his chosen team for the AFC West.

That's funny. That's exactly what I did.

I don't know, I think that Skip pretty much hit it on the head, Miami just whipped a fairly highly regarded Oakland squad and came up a little short on Thanksgiving in Dallas. Miami is playing well right now. Stephen is correct in that it doesn't erase what happened earlier in the year and that's why I agree with him that Sparano will be gone at the end of the year, but still I think he's wrong about Miami being ranked 22 currently in the power rankings. That's a joke. They should be around 18 or so. How can you put San Diego, Buffalo, Seattle and Arizona above them? Just because they have 1 more win? Please. The power rankings are supposed to reflect the current power ranking, what happened 6 weeks ago should not have as big of an impact as what happened the last 2 weeks. Chicago without Cutler and Forte dropped to 17, I'm not sure Miami shouldn't be above them too at this point.

Stephen didn't say Miami should be 22, he just said they shouldn't be near the Top 10

Actually he did. At the very end of the conversation he's asked if he thinks the power rankings are fine the way they are and his only complaint was that New Orleans should be higher.  He absolutely thinks the Dolphins should be ranked 22.

I don't know. At 22, they moved up four spots from last week. Yes they demolished the Raiders, but most of the good starters didn't play. There's something to be said for that. Yes, they hung around with Dallas, but they still lost, and Dallas is only number 9. How can you put SD, Buffalo, Seattle, and Arizona above them? SD seems justifiable, insofar as they were 4 spots ahead of Miami last week, also won handily, and now are only one spot ahead. Phins closed the gap by three spots. That seems fair. Buffalo lost a close game two weeks in a row (6 points or less), and dropped from 19 down to 20. If they got blown out two weeks in a row, maybe they drop more, but when they're already in the bottom half, and playing close to .500 going into the week, losing a close game and only dropping one spot doesn't seem that out of bounds to me. Seattle has won three out of four, and the Baltimore win is better than any of our wins thus far. I'm OK with them only being three spots ahead of Miami. Arizona has won four out of five, including beating a team Miami didn't in Dallas.

I'm not saying that this list should be the end-all, be-all, but if you take into account where teams started last week, and who moved where, I don't think the rankings are so outlandish that you can't make a logical case for them. FWIW, I also believe Miami comes crashing down to earth this week against the Eagles, and will likely justify their spot at 22, but that remains to be seen. -EK

These guys seem to be taking the opposite ends of the spectrum for show.  It's really somewhere in the middle.  The Dolphins are playing pretty good football right now, and if I were a team making a playoff run, I wouldn't want to run into us, because we're somewhat of a wildcard.  You don't know which version you're going to get from us.  Right now, we're capable of beating good teams or losing to bad ones.

I hate to say "I told you so," but Philly is dominating Miami in every aspect. 22 seems about right, as I said. -EK

How is that hindsight? Reread post #8 of this thread. It's exactly what I said BEFORE the game. -EK

I'm saying that's it easy NOW to say Miami looks like a #22.  The debate was not whether or not Miami is #22 now, which of course they are after they lose their starting left tackle and are down to their 3rd string QB, it was should Miami have been #22 last week when the offensive line didn't look like a revolving door and Moore was looking like a starting quality QB.

Yes, Miami is looking like a #22 now, but that's for the week 15 ranking, NOT the week 14 ranking.  That's why it's hindsight. Props to you for believing it last week when some of us didn't.

Um... Ok? Guess you didn't read any part of my post that said I think they were fairly ranked at 22, that I agreed with the ranking, and that I gave reasons for why the teams ahead of them actually should be ahead of them. Before they got drummed this weekend. That's not hindsight. That's "I told you so." -EK
